New Bourgeois Vintage D Brazilian Guitar 'Sold'

Here is another great Dreadnaut from Dana Bourgeois and company. Great sound right out of the box - plenty of growl as well as smooth lyrical highs.
Quarter-sawn beautiful Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, with a very high grade Adirondack Red Spruce top. Brazilian peghead overlay. Ebony fingerboard and bridge. 1 23/32" width of fingerboard at nut. Ivoroid bound body with Herringbone top trim.
I am sure most of you are aware that these high grades of quarter-sawn Brazilian Rosewood are getting more and more scarce. Some builders are shutting off new orders for Brazilian guitars, while others are charging extremely high prices for even poor grades of Brazilian Rosewood. This Bourgeois has top grades of Brazilian Rosewood and Adirondack Red Spruce and is priced at "yesterday's prices".
My market prediction is that all top grade Brazilian Rosewood guitars built by top makers will be $10,000 or more within the next few years...

2004 Bourgeois Vintage D Guitar 'Sold'

Exc. original condition. Rosewood back and sides, with Adirondack Red Spruce top. Lots of 'favorite appointments' on this guitar: Herringbone purfling inside the Ivoroid top bindings; Ebony fingerboard with 1 23/32" width at nut; Diamond on back of headstock; pre-war style Waverly open-back tuners; traditional 'zig-zag' wooden backstrip, and more...
Typical of good Bourgeois guitars, this guitar has good power and enunciation... but also has a sweetness that adds flavor to the clear notes to make them more lyrical. We see lots of customers who flatpick fiddle tunes tending toward Bourgeois Vintage D's and Country Boy guitars.
This guitar has been played a bit... but it was never abused. Only a few small dings, mostly at or near binding below bridge on top, and slight evidence of fret wear. It is in very fine playing condition and sounds impressive and all 'opened up'.

2003 Bourgeois Vintage Dreadnaut Custom Red Spruce top Guitar 'Sold'

Exc (+) condition. This is a very clean original guitar.
Indian Rosewood back and sides. Adirondack Red Spruce top with antique'd finish. Adirondack Red Spruce braces. Mahogany neck, Ebony fingerboard and bridge. Ebony binding along fingerboard. Gold Waverly tuners. Ivoroid bridge pins and endpin. Herringbone top purfling with multiple ivoroid outer bindings on top and back of body. Traditional "zipper" back strip. Elaborate custom inlays in fingerboard. Bone saddle and nut. Gold strap button correctly installed in heel.
This is a very nice sounding guitar that also looks great! Beautiful woods, with even a little 'bearclaw' figure in the Red Spruce top. The fingerboard inlays really work well to make it very distinct and attractive.
When you add in the custom appointments, a guitar like this ordered new would cost over $4,000. Well... what can we say? Here is a great one with very little sign of prior ownership, for lots less...
