1976 Gurian Jumbo Rosewood Guitar 'Sold'

Exc(+) condition. Body size is smaller than a Gibson J-200, but does have similar depth. Very nicely taken care of through the years. Just has polite finish checking and light evidence of handling. The worst mark on the guitar is a chip in the top of peghead above G-tuner. Even the frets are in very nice condition.
Rosewood back and sides. The Rosewood appears to me to be Cambodian Rosewood, instead of Indian Rosewood, as the wood has a chocolate-brown hue instead of the purplish hues of Indian Rosewood.
Very high grade select Spruce top. Ebony blank fingerboard. Brazilian Rosewood peghead overlay. Rosewood bridge. Bone nut and saddle. Wooden Maple body bindings with wooden half-herringbone purfling around inside of top edge. Herringbone soundhole rosette. Nickel Schaller tuners. Rosewood heelcap. Multiple wood purfling strip in center of back. Maple end wedge at endpin area. Strap button corectly installed in neck heel. 25 1/2" scale length. 1 3/4" width at nut.
This is a great guitar. The attack is quick and sure, with great tonal expression and depth right away. Works as well with bare fingers as it does with a pick. You and I both know that this guitar should be priced around $3000 or more in today's market. But Gurian guitars have always been a "sleeper" in the used and vintage market. Gurian made too few guitars (around 2000 or so), to be a household name. Usually the people who know them were active buying and playing guitars in the 1970's when these were being made and were aware of them.
This guitar is set-up very well and plays great. It has a very nice mature sound that is balance well, it is very "open" sounding, and has good presence.

1976 Mossman Great Plains - Dan Crary's Personal Guitar 'Sold'

Here is a rare thing, indeed... Dan Crary's Mossman "Great Plains" guitar! Owned and used by Dan Crary for touring and recording. He used this guitar for several years around 1976-1980, in personal appearances, national and international tours, and for recordings on his celebrated album, "Lady's Fancy".
A letter of Provenance from Dan Crary is included with this guitar.
Exc(-) condition. Indian Rosewood back and sides, with Sitka Spruce top.  Back is 3-piece. Top and back are bound with multiple ivoroid, with Herringbone purfling on top edge and soundhole rosette. Neck and peghead are bound with ivoroid. Original bridge, pickguard, and nickel Grover tuners. Some mild player wear and random dings here and there. Frets are nice, and show recent professional attention. Guitar has finish checking, otherwise the original lacquer is in good shape. This guitar comes with pickup professionally installed by Mr Crary. This pickup works fine.
It is seldom that these historically significant instruments come up for sale. If you've ever heard Dan Crary playing "Lime Rock", "Huckleberry Hornpipe", or "Lady's Fancy" (also known as 'Say old Man'),  you know what sort of tone we are talking about.
I will make this statement: I have been around Mossman guitars for about 35 years. I've played music with guys that owned them, I've bought and sold several over the years, etc. This is an outstanding Mossman!
It has a recent professional neck re-set and is set up very well.

Exc(-) condition. One-owner guitar. Has a few dings here and there, button rub area on back, some wear on back of neck. NO cracks or repairs. Frets show some denting but not deep enough to worry about.
This guitar is from the Lemon Grove shop, meaning it was built when Taylor was still a fairly small production shop crafting a few hundred guitars per year. To put it in perspective, by around 2003 - 2006 or so, Taylor was up to about 100,000 pieces or more per year! If you understand those different numbers in relation to building "soul" and real tone into an instrument, then you will understand why these Lemon Grove guitars are much more sought-after than the same Taylor guitars from more recent years...
Select Sitka Spruce top with beautiful honey colored Rosewood back and sides. Ebony fingerboard and bridge. Original nut and saddle and tuners - all in good shape. Abalone soundhole rosette.
Now... about the sound... If only Taylor would build guitars that have this sound today. This is a REAL guitar for tone. It has a great attack, great depth, and a big full voice.
In short, this Taylor is one that will stand up to many other high-end guitars for tone...  The set-up is good and it doesn't have any problems.

Near Mint. No sign of previous ownership except strap button correctly installed in side of neck heel.

This one has strikingly beautiful 3-pc Coco Bolo back and Coco Bolo sides. Select Sitka Spruce top. Ebony fingerboard and bridge. Gold Grover Rotomatic tuners. Multiple wood bindings around top edge, with solid wood outer bindings around top and back edges, fingerboard and peghead. I am not sure of the exact species of wood used in the outer bindings, but I can say that it is very highly "flamed" and just has a very nice look to it.
Abalone soundhole rosette with multiple wood outside the abalone. Stylized diamond inlays in fingerboard.
I have long been a fan of Coco Bolo guitars in general, and this guitar reinforces that opinion. This is a truly great guitar. It has a very big voice with lots of tonal expression and power. No kidding... anyone who enjoys a great sounding, lively, powerful guitar will have a fine time with this one. It flatpicks well, but fingerpicks like a dream, with a quick, sure attack on all strings.

Mahogany peghead veneer with Pearl and Abalone inlays and Taylor logo. Has the original Taylor pickup system installed as well as a strap button in the heel.
This is a hard to find, early Taylor 12-string that was built using top-grade woods before Taylor started producing guitars at such a high rate. It is set up to play great and the sound is very good. The tone is more mature than most 12-strings, it sounds less jangly and has more rich undertones and resonance.
