     This is a very nice mandolin in very nice condition. The finish is especially beautiful, as the matte finish shows a nice lustre from being polished out a bit. The sound is very open and responsive and it is set-up and ready to play.

     Beautiful sunburst color with varnish finish. The varnish has a beautiful lustre, and Collings has further accented the overall "look" by antique-ing the bindings perfectly. The overall look of this mandolin is fantastic, but the best part is the playability and the sound.
     New, this mandolin sold at the discount price of $9500. Next year you know they'll be higher! So take advantage of one that is so close to being new that you can't tell its used, for $2250 LESS than that.

     Exc condition. Black top, with sunburst back, sides and neck. Some moderate fret wear, but no buzzing. Only some few small marks on the top - nothing much. Strap button installed in back of mandolin below neck heel.
      This fine "A" model from Collings has mostly "standard" features, like 1 1/8" nut width, there are a few custom features associated with a black top mandolin. The top is black with glossy nitro-cellulose lacquer over the black color, and there is an extra white line of binding around top of mandolin to accentuate the "look" of the binding against the black top. Nicely figured Maple back, sides and neck.
     The sound is very good. It is nicely opened-up from playing and has good strength of projection and a fine sound. It is all set-up and ready to go.

     This is a very nice mandolin. It sounds great, its in great condition, and it is set-up well. Anyone looking for a mandolin under $1000 should consider this one.

     Exc. Condition. There are just a couple of light touches on the top. There is a minimal amount of wear on a couple frets, but are mostly in great shape.
     Spruce top. Nicely figured Maple back, sides and neck. Top is triple bound, fretboard is single bound. Radiused Ebony fretboard with pearl dot inlays. Nickel tuners and one-piece Nickel tailpiece.
     This is a very nice mandolin for the price. It is in almost-new condition, and is significantly cheaper than a new MD515.

     Exc(+) Condition. This mandolin is really in great shape. The body just has a few random dings but is in excellent condition otherwise. Neck is in excellent shape, no fret wear. The back of the peghead has a little finish scraped away and has a small amount of lacquer checking. "Carroll Music #9" is etched in near the tuners on the back and also on the neckplate. This is probably a school music instrument that was never used. "Carroll" is engraved again on the back of the neck heel, but near the neck plate, where it won't interfere with playing. "#9" is faintly marked on the top of the peg head as well.
     Original 3-tone Fender sunburst. 4-layer pickguard in beautiful original condition. Pickups are untouched. Original Kluson "deluxe" tuners in great shape. Original bridge, knobs and "ashtray" bridge cover.
     For 46 years this mandolin has basically sat in it's case, there is hardly even any marks on the pickguard. The original case is in exceptional condition as well. This is a very collectible, original Fender instrument.

    This is a very good mandolin. It has a good strong mature sound with lots of volume and tone. It would work well as your "main" mandolin, or be a good choice as an "extra" instrument.

Exc (+) condition. Engelmann spruce top. Highly figured maple back, sides and neck. 1 7/16" nut width. Sunburt Lacquer finish. Gold plated hardware. Gotoh “mini” guitar tuners. Solid Ebony floating pickguard. Comfortable small guitar shaped body (14 1/2" at lower bout) with short scale length (21.5") make this an enjoyable instrument to play with wonderful tone, lots of punch & volume. Shows only the slightest signs of being played. No fret wear. These Octave mandolins made by Fletcher Brock are very popular. It's a rare thing to see a used one on the market.

     Exc(-) Condition. Playing wear through finish on back of neck. A few random dings here and there. Original clamp lost from pickguard. Pickguard modified with side mount screwed into side of body. All original parts. Moderate fret wear on the original frets.

Pickguard side-mount attachment was apparently lost and a modified attaching mechanism was installed (see photos). No separation anywhere. One repaired back crack.

     Exc(+) condition. #124 of 200 made. One-owner mandolin. The only sign of prior ownership are few very small chips in the finish at top peak of back of peghead. No fret wear, no scratches.
     I remember standing with Bruce Weber and Ren Ferguson in the old Gibson/Flatiron shop in Bozeman, MT, in about 1985 or 1986, and being shown a huge batch of high-grade old Maple that they had purchased. When I asked if we could order mandolins made with this old cured tonewood, Ren Ferguson told me that they had bought it.for a large "special" run of mandolins that they would build in the future. In 1992 Gibson announced that they would build 200 F-5's built like Bill Monroe's original Gibson F-5 Loar. This old wood was used in their construction.
     Highly figured old cured Maple back, sides and neck. Highly select Spruce top with excellent medullary rays. Sunburst. Ebony paghead overlay, fingerboard and bridge. Pearl dot inlays in fingerboard. Abalone and Pearl traditional flowerpot inlay in peghead. The Gibson pearl inlay in peghead.      This mandolin plays real "easy". The neck profile is nice and slim. The attack is fast and sure, and the tone is the good 'ol wooden bell Gibson sound. It is a fine mandolin, for sure.
     The case that comes with this instrument is the original hard case, with metal placque denoting special run of Bill Monroe signature F-5, and showing #124 of 200. Not only that, but this case is quite valuable on the used market, as it closely resembles the old original "Loar" cases.

     Exc. Condition with no problems. 100% original including frets and nut, except for new bridge fit to instrument. Silver hardware in good condition. Pickguard in excellent condition with no "rot." Back center-seam glued for about 2.5" from lower binding up. Some side separation has been expertly repaired by Mr. John Joyner of Missoula, Montana. Tuners have original solid pearl buttons. Even all the small screws for tuner, tailpiece, pickguard etc. are all-original. Frets do not show any appreciable wear.
     Label signed by Lloyd Loard on March 31, 1924. This is a previously un-catalogued Loar. "Fern" inlay in headstock. Bindings show multiple lines from top and back of body and top of peghead, and side of fingerboard. Varnish is original, and in excellent condition.
     Virzi Tone Enhancer is intact, and in great condition.
     This mandolin was stored in a collection for 30 or 40 or 50 years. With the recent, professional, thoughtful setup, this mandolin is now playing great, and sounding fabulous.

     Exc(-) Condition. The main sing of prior ownership is the back center seam shows evidence of being reglued. Fretwear is minimal.
      "A" model with Spruce top, and highly flamed maple back, sides & neck. Neck and body are fully bound. Snowflake fret markers and "Torch" inlay in peghead. Radiused fingerboard. Gold hardware.
     The set-up is very good and the mandolin plays great and sounds great.

     Exc(-) Condition. Top shows a couple of little marks, but no cracks or lacquer checking. Sides have a few little areas where paint has been chipped. Back and neck are in great shape. No fret wear.

     This mandolin is in good playing condition and sounds very good. It has no problems or repairs.
     Recently, the "620" models have been made using all plywood construction. This one has a solid spruce top, which definitely imparts much stronger, deeper and more expressive tonal value.

     Exc. Condition. The top, back and sides  just have a little surface scratching, there are no real "dings." There is some moderate wear on the frets, but aside from that this mandolin is in fine shape.
     Spruce top, Maple back, sides and neck with sunburst throughout. Top is multiple bound, back and fretboard have single white binding. 2-pc. Ebony adjustable bridge.      This is a good beginner-intermediate mandolin. It is set up to play well with no problems and has a nice sound.

     Exc. Condition. Just coming back from recent professional fretwork and setup. Minor surface scratches on the top and back, but no major flaws.This is the older, Korean model which cost more, and was built better than the current Chinese model.
     Solid Maple back and sides. Sitka spruce top. Nice sunburst on the top and back. Top, back and peghead are multiple bound. Single binding on fretboard. Two piece, Nickel tailpiece. Large Pearl dot inlays. Pearl peghead overlay.
     Nice mandolin. Plays nice, and sounds great.

     Exc(-) condition. This mandolin is in very nice condition and has a very lovely sound. There is only minor evidence of prior playing. It does have a cleanly repaired top crack that ran parallel to the top's center seam. This crack ran from bridge to binding under tailpiece. It isn't very noticeable - in fact, we are having problems trying to take a photo that shows it. This crack is very nicely repaired and the top is tight and even on both sides of crack.
     Fully bound with multiple ivoroid/black/ivoroid bindings - top, back, fingerboard and headstock. Kimble abalone logo and elaborate Flowerpot inlaid into headstock. Nickel Schaller tuners with pearlescent buttons. Ebony radiused fingerboard that has the extension scalloped at 19th fret. Small pearl dots. Ebony pickguard with multiple binding to match mandolin.      As I've pointed out above, this is a very good mandolin. Lots of tone and expression, lots of volume and projection. I'll put it another way... if I didn't need to put a new roof on the store this year I'd be trying to figure out how to keep this one.

     Exc. Condition. This mandolin is in great shape overall, there are just a few light scratches on the top and one ding on the back. There is also a small chip on the top of the peghead and a little fret wear on the "E" and "A" strings.
     Made in Korea. Solid Spruce top, and solid Maple back and sides. Top and back are both hand-carved. Triple-bound on top, back and peghead. Single binding on fret board. Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard. Elaborate Pearl and Abalone "Vine and Flowers" inlay along fret board. Ebony bridge, gold Grover tuners.
     This is a nice playing, nice sounding mandolin at a nice price.

Exc(+) condition. This John Monteleone F is a fine instrument, for sure. It is probably one of the last F's before the "Radio Flyer" model. The color is more akin to the Radio Flyer models, being a slightly redder sunburst. It is in fine original condition and is set up to play. The sound is great... Beautiful attack with mature, very developed, depth of tonal expression. Excellent collector value as well as a top performance instrument.  w/ Good Hardshell Case.

     Exc(+) condition. Very nice mandolin that was played, but well cared for. There are a few small nicks and pick marks on the top. The back is very nice condition, as well as the sides, back of neck, peghead, etc. Frets show minor playing marks, but no v-dents.

     The neck is a close copy of an original old Gibson A, with same length of 'usable' neck and similar neck profile.
     Clear, round tone with great pronunciation. It has a big, deep sound reminiscent of the old Gibson Mandolins.
     * If you are truly desiring an oval hole mandolin with great sound, this is the one.

     Exc(-) condition. This mandolin is really in great playing condition, but has just a few things to mention that make it "exc(-)" condition instead of "exc" condition: The fingerboard extension was cut off cleanly and professionally at the 23rd fret (almost the exact way Sam Bush did his famous old Gibson F); There are a few light dings here and there on the top and sides of the mandolin, with one larger compression mar on the top, located 2" below treble side of bridge; And, there is some moderate fret wear, but not buzzing when played.
     Very nice highly figured Maple back, sides and neck. German Spruce top. Ebony flat fingerboard with pearl dot inlays. Ebony peghead overlay, with Prucha logo and floral pattern pearl inlay.      This is a great sounding mandolin! It was sold originally to an employee here at our store who selected it after trying out many mandolins that were coming thru our store. A new mandolin like this one sells now for between $3600 and $3850, depending on options, so this one has all the sound, is in very good playing condition, and sounds like a champ, for hundreds less than a new one than a new one.

     Exceptional original condition. Matte sunburst finish. No player wear except slight polishing on back of neck from hands.

     The sound is very bold, with a good solid attack. It is a very delightful tone that is open and strong.
    

     Exceptional original condition. There is only a few very light 'touch marks' here and there, almost no sign of fret wear. All original parts. This is an extremely nice example of some of the finest handwork by the celebrated master luthier, Robert L Givens.
     Truly a handmade work of art, these mandolins were all handbuilt in Givens' workshop in North Idaho, using NO CnC technology. Every part was made by Givens, using handbuilt jigs and forms. The workmanship is impeccable.
     Dramatically figured Maple back, sides and neck. Englemann Spruce top (hand-harvested by Bob Givens). Ebony radiused fingerboard. Ebony adjustable bridge. Gold Schaller tuners and gold 2-pc tailpiece.
    Fully multiple bound, with ivoroid outer bindings. Peghead has the elaborate engraved pearl and abalone Givens "Torch" inlaid in peghead, and the hand-cut and hand-engraved "snowflakes" inlaid as position dots in fingerboard.
     The overall "look" is great. The color is beautiful and vivid, without being garish. The set-up is great, playability is great. 1 1/8" width at nut.
     These A-models from Givens from 1986 to 1992 are regarded by many players to be better than many A-models from makers today that cost $10,000 to $15,000. If you play one that has good set-up, you'll hear it, too. There is all of the depth and balance, but also a sparkling lyrical quality in these later Givens A's that many experienced players know well.
     This particular instrument is from the private collection of Greg Boyd, and is being offered for sale because the "House of Fine Instruments" needs a new roof.

     Exc(+) condition. Really nice and original, with original frets, nut, tailpiece, tuners and bridge. The beautiful finish is in great shape, but mandolin has a few small touch-marks around the top and a few light rub marks in center of back.

     This mandolin is great. Hardly any appreciable wear... and the sound is very powerful and gorgeous. It is priced lower than later model A-6's because it doesn't have as dramatically figured Maple as later ones have and it doesn't have an adjustable truss-rod, like the models from 1992 have. But - this one has all the tonal color and power that most players recognize.

     Exc(-) with Refinished Top. This mandolin doesn't show much wear anywhere, but had the top refinished in black. Back of neck has had finish removed for smoother hand movement. Peghead has two significant marks in finish at top edge. A few light marks on back. Gold strap button professionally installed on neck heel.
     These A-6 mandolins that were handmade by Robert L Givens are the epitome of his 30 years of mandolin making. Most Givens afficianados consider these to be ranked at highest levels for tonal expression, beauty and projection.

     This mandolin is a joy to play. It is no different than the "unrefinished" examples that sell for $6800 to $7500, except that we've priced it to reflect the re-finished top. This is one that goes head to head with mandolins at the highest levels of the craft. Beautiful sound for recording, beautiful sound that "eats up a microphone" when on stage.
 

     Mint condition. There are no visible dents or dings, and no fret wear.

     Exc(-) condition. No fret wear. Only a few signs of prior ownership. 19 3/4" scale length. 1 11/16" width at nut. Rosewood back and sides, Mahogany neck. Cedar top. Ebony fingerboard and bridge. Rosewood peghead overlay.
     We aren't sure of the year, but think that it is from the late '70's or early '80's.
     Citterns are especially flexible with tunings that work well. Currently we have it tuned to GDGDG, but there are lots of variants on this tuning, as well as completely different tunings that you can try out.
     This instrument is in nice shape with no problems. It plays very well and has very good tone. It comes with good original shaped hard case.

     VG(+) Condition. Two repaired top cracks on either side of fingerboard, and one repaired, and barely visible side crack. Some light scratches on the top. All repairs have been professionally done and have been inspected by our luthier.
     Nice Cedar top, Rosewood back and sides with center seam in back. Ebony radiused fretboard. Rosewood peghead overlay with replaced Grover tuners. This mandolin has an oversized body, and oval soundhole. The width at nut is 1 7/16".
     The Sobell has a very sweet tone. It's got a refined sound that fills the room. Perfect for your next Irish session at the local pub.

     Exc(-) condition. Sunburst F-5 mandolin, nicely appointed. Slight evidence of wear in the frets. A few random touch marks from handling on top, sides and back. Peghead scroll was broken and professionally reattached.

     This is really a great Mandolin. It has the tone of a much more expensive instrument, with great attack, great single string, great chop... all with power and expression.

     Exceptional condition. A few barely visible pick scratches on the top are the only thing that seperate this mandolin from being in brand new condition.

     This mandolin has a very good sound - more sound, in fact, than you might expect. Good balance and good volume.

     Exc(-) Condition. There are some spots of fret wear on the neck and one or two minor dings on the top and back, but overall in fine condition. No lacquer checking or major flaws whatsoever. There is a single ding in the neck, but in a position that will not cause any problems when playing.

     This is a very good mandolin. It has great balance and depth. This Weber has been around long enough for the tone to open up fully, but still stays in great condition aesthetically.

     Made with 70-90 year-old tonewoods. Visually, it is completely stunning, with beautiful sunburst finish that shows off the woods and bindings perfectly.      Width at nut is 'a hair less than' 1 1/4". Scale length is 17".
    These old cured tonewoods are 70-90 years old. Weber acquired these woods from a respected west coast maker of violins, violas, cellos and basses back around 2006, and have been steadily putting it to best use in building mandolins and mandolas like these, that rival the look of the old originals, and even surpass them for perfection of tone. We have seen time after time when these are directly compared to original 80 and 90 year old F-4's and H-4's, that the newer Webers often BEAT the old Gibsons, for balance, attack, single string, chord chop, depth of tone, clarity and projection...!

     Nice, strong sounding mandolin ready to play. These mandolins are built using 65-100 year old tonewoods, giving them a rich, lively sound and this one is no exception. This is Weber's take on an original F-4 with a few modern additions. Weber uses modern neck design on the Custom Vintage F's, so the neck is joined to the body at the 14th fret, instead of 9th fret, making for greater playability up the neck.
     Even when new, you can easily hear the old cured tonewoods. Most times when we have these examples at shows or festivals, customers point out that they sound better than original vintage Gibson oval hole mandolins when compared directly.

     Excellent condition. Hardly any marks on this one, even though it was enjoyed and played for 11 years. There is one very small ding on the back side of the scroll and the matte finish has been shined up here and there from playing. Some mild fret wear, but no buzzing.

     This mandolin was a one-owner instrument that was cared-for by the owner. It is set-up to play well and sounds great with no problems.

     Prototype - Yes, this is the world's first Weber Yellowstone mandolin.
     Exc Condition. Only has incidental signs of handling and careful playing. Hardly any sign of playing wear on frets. No bangs, no dents, etc.
     Back in 1997, when Weber Mandolins were just getting going, they mainly produced A-model mandolins while developing their F's. The first F's came out in early 1998, and if I remember right, this Prototype Yellowstone F was one of their first F models produced. It has Prototype written in label instead of a serial number.
     Figured Maple back, sides and neck. Sitka Spruce top. Tone bar bracing. Fully multiple bound, with ivoroid bindings. Ebony fingerboard, bridge and peghead overlay. Weber logo and Celtic Knot inlaid in peghead. Flat fingerboard. Recent fret job. 1 1/8" width at nut.
     Very open and responsive. Set-up well and plays great.

     New. Fully bound F-model mandolin with distinctive coloration and options. Black finished top with see-thru black stained Maple body and neck. Beautifully figured Maple. Red Spruce top. Radiused Ebony fingerboard, Ebony 2-pc adjustable Brekke bridge. Nickel 1-pc cast tailpiece with color "fill" in center. Nickel tuners with Ebony buttons. The Weber logo and stylized diamond florish inlaid in Ebony peghead overlay. Small diamond position markers inlaid in fingerboard.
     This is a very nice mandolin, both for looks and for sound. Right out of the box as a brand new instrument it has all the right elements, great attack, depth, balance, single string, chop, etc...

     This is an exceptionally good sounding mandolin... It is balanced very well, with treble and bass both being very strong and developed, even as a new instrument. The chop is strong and defined very well, the single strings start fast and sure and sing right out.
