Previously Owned Weber Custom Vintage F Mandola made with Aged Tonewoods Mandolin 'Sold'

Almost new condition. No real wear anywhere - no dings or dents. Set-up is great. This Mandola has no problems.
Made with 70-90 year-old tonewoods. Visually, it is completely stunning, with beautiful sunburst finish that shows off the woods and bindings perfectly. Body is multiple bound with Ivoroid showing black line at top and back edges. Peghead binding shows black line on face. Fingerboard is bound with single ivoroid.
Width at nut is 'a hair less than' 1 1/4". Scale length is 17".
These old cured tonewoods are 70-90 years old. Weber acquired these woods from a respected west coast maker of violins, violas, cellos and basses back around 2006, and have been steadily putting it to best use in building mandolins and mandolas like these, that rival the look of the old originals, and even surpass them for perfection of tone. We have seen time after time when these are directly compared to original 80 and 90 year old F-4's and H-4's, that the newer Webers often BEAT the old Gibsons, for balance, attack, single string, chord chop, depth of tone, clarity and projection...!
Highly figured aged Maple back, sides and neck, with aged Sitka Spruce top. Ebony radiused fingerboard with dot position markers and traditional double-cut extension. Ebony peghead overlay with very tasteful "Torch" inlaid in center and The Weber logo at top. Ebony heelcap. Ebony truss-rod cover. Ebony 2-pc Brekke "traditional" adjustable bridge. Weber 1-pc cast tailpiece. Nickel hardware.
This instrument has a very good voice. Balance, depth, attack, projection... all are very high on this mandolin. In fact, I can't think of a reason it shouldn't be in your home. These "custom vintage" mandolas and mandolins are made in limited supply by Weber. The cost of a new custom vintage Mandola like this one is well over $5000...

Weber Custom Vintage F Oval Hole - 1

2010 Weber Custom Vintage F Oval Hole - Built with Aged Tonewoods Mandolin 'Sold'

Exc.(++) Condition. Built with 65 - 85 year old violin grade tonewoods.
The only evidence of any previous playing on the mandolin is a very light amount of fret wear.
Aged Sitka Spruce top with nice sunburst finish. Aged flamed Maple back, sides and neck also sunburst finished. Top, back and peghead are multiple bound with Ivoroid, with black line showing at top and back of body. Fretboard is single bound with Ivoroid. Radiused fingerboard with Pearl dot inlays. Fretboard has traditional double-cut extension. Elaborate pearl and abalone "Flower Pot" inlay on peghead. "Houndstooth" soundhole rosette. Inside of soundhole is also bound with Ivoroid. 2-pc. adjustable Brekke bridge. Nickel Grover tuners. Nickel cast 1-pc tailpiece.
Nice, strong sounding mandolin ready to play. These mandolins are built using 65-100 year old tonewoods, giving them a rich, lively sound and this one is no exception. This is Weber's take on an original F-4 with a few modern additions. Weber uses modern neck design on the Custom Vintage F's, so the neck is joined to the body at the 14th fret, instead of 9th fret, making for greater playability up the neck.
Even when new, you can easily hear the old cured tonewoods. Most times when we have these examples at shows or festivals, customers point out that they sound better than original vintage Gibson oval hole mandolins when compared directly.
This is a very nice bargain price, as new ones cost $5220 at the discounted selling price. Older examples have single ivoroid binding.

Weber Elite 1

New Weber Elite Mandolin 'Sold'

This mandolin and others like it is the reason we've been so excited about Weber Mandolins lately. Ok, I admit that we've always liked the whole crew there, and have had many great mandolins for almost 12 years now... But in the last 2 1/2 years we have seen another level in the craft from Weber.
Beginning in 2006 Weber began to make many instruments from old seasoned woods, as well as searching for and paying for higher grades of newer tonewoods.
They didn't advertise this. They just relied on dealers like us to let the buyers know what is going on by showing them the product. We have been doing so for awhile now, and I can attest that the mandolins are being highly complimented by the most experienced players in the business...
This Weber 'Elite' has just so many things going for it that they are hard to remember them all, but I'll try:
Red Spruce top / 1-pc Old Wood back, sides and neck / Half herringbone 'roped' purflings on top and back / Bound f-holes / Scalloped fingerboard extension / Custom 'filled' tailpiece / Custom Color / Hand-rubbed Spirit Varnish finish.
It looks great - feels great, too... But the best part is the sound. It just 'has that sound'. Most of the very few 'Elite' models that Weber has produced have tone bar bracing, but this one is x-braced.

These are very nice mandolins at a nice low price. During the past few years of recession, Weber actually re-designed several models to have MORE desirable features for LESS money.
Compared to the earlier Gallatin A's, these new ones are quite nice. They are made with figured Maple back, sides and neck, instead of Mahogany; Radiused fingerboard instead of flat; Weber logo inlaid with Pearl, instead of a decal; nice finish color, instead of just natural wood color.
In addition to the appointments, these mandolins will go head to head with mandolins costing over $2000.

2006 Weber Yellowstone Custom Mandolin 'Sold'

Like New condition. NO WEAR! Western Red Cedar top, Tone-bar bracing, radiused fingerboard w/ dot inlays and traditional fingerboard extension scalloped. Flowerpot inlay in peghead. Old-style Weber script logo. Ebony pickguard made "bi-level" to match scalloping of fingerboard. Custom color. Matte finish is a further option choice that some people choose.
Weber tone-bar instruments sound great with any top wood, but the Cedar seems to impart an instant satisfaction of woody tone as well as effective stage projection. Couple that with a 2-pc bridge and you get a mandolin worthy of taking with you when you leave your Gilchrist at home - just ask Chad here at our store.
We usually have Webers similar to these in stock, or on order from Weber, and are happy to discuss them with you... When you play one you'll understand why they are very popular purchases for serious performing mandolinists. On Sale -
