New Weber Custom A - Old Wood - Oval Hole Mandolin 'Sold'

These are just some of the finest mandolins of any type! We could go on and on about the perfection of attack, and tonal depth and shape. NO KIDDING at all... this mandolin is right up there with Nugget and Gilchrist oval hole A-models. Made with old tonewood 50-100 years old that Weber acquired from a long-time violin maker. And the beauty of it... its gorgeous, with pumpkin top and red back, sides and neck. I will say that this fine mandolin will rival just about any oval-hole mandolin you put in next to it. The sound is really just fantastic. Top has X-bracing. Radiused Ebony fingerboard. 2-piece Brekke bridge.  We have had 3 of these in a row, and they are all really great in producing the "special" tones that are usually only found in very expensive mandolins. *This was the very first Custom Vintage A. The current model comes standard with a tapered "Snakehead" headstock.

New Weber Custom Vintage - Old Wood - Oval Hole Mandolin 'Sold'

"Custom A - Old Wood - Oval Hole"  These are just some of the finest oval hole mandolins! We have had many of these in a row, and they are all really great in producing the "special" tones that are usually only found in very expensive mandolins.

2007 Weber Custom Vintage A - Old Wood - Oval Hole Mandolin 'Sold'

Exc(+) condition. Hardly any signs of previous player's wear. Slight fret dents from playing and a couple of very small touch marks on the top. Really, it is very nice overall.
Made with aged tone woods, approximately 65-85 years old. Figured Maple back, sides and neck, with Sitka Spruce top.
The sound is opened up and full. It came to us as a trade-in toward a more expensive Weber mandolin, and has Thomastik FlatWound strings installed currently. Those strings sound great on this mandolin.     Pumpkin colored top with Cherry back, sides and neck. Snakehead, with ivoroid binding around top and back of body, along fingerboard, and around peghead.
Dot inlays in the radiused Ebony fingerboard. Nickel hardware - Weber cast tailpiece and Grover tuners with pearloid buttons.
     Great playability and great sound.

2008 Weber Custom Vintage A Old Wood - Oval Hole Mandolin 'Sold'

Exceptional original condition. No wear, no dings, no dents. Handsome vintage look, with the old 65-85 year-old wood showing off the pumpkin color top very well. Similar to old original A-4's, these mandolins have great sound coupled with very old cured Maple and Spruce, and also the old vintage "look"... But there is increased playability with longer neck access.
Nicely figured back, side and neck, with cherry color. Spruce top with "pumpkin" color. Ebony radiused fingerboard with dot inlays. Ebony peghead overlay with The Weber inlaid in pearl. Fully bound with ivoroid bindings. Ivoroid bound soundhole. Bone nut. Nickel Grover tuners and cast 1-pc tailpiece. Glossy nitro-cellulose finish.
Comes with 2 bridges fit to the top - original Brekke "traditional" bridge and newer Loar style 2-piece bridge. Currently set-up with 'silk & bronze' round-wound strings, but these sound great with flat-wound Thomastik strings, as well.
There are no problems. Set-up is good, playability is good. The sound is great.

2008 Weber Custom Vintage A Old Wood Mandolin 'Sold'

Beautiful original condition. These mandolins are made in limited supply, as they are made with old cured tonewoods around 65-85 years old. One look at the top will tell you that you are dealing with nice old wood.
These mandolins not only have a great authentically 'vintage' look, but also have a pleasing sound. We've found that while they do work well with medium phosphor strings, they also work very well with flat-wound strings, especially the Thomastik flat-wound sets.
This mandolin was never really played. It has no dents or dings, no scratches, no pick wear or fret wear.

Previously Owned Weber Custom Vintage F Mandola made with Aged Tonewoods Mandolin 'Sold'

Almost new condition. No real wear anywhere - no dings or dents. Set-up is great. This Mandola has no problems.
Made with 70-90 year-old tonewoods. Visually, it is completely stunning, with beautiful sunburst finish that shows off the woods and bindings perfectly. Body is multiple bound with Ivoroid showing black line at top and back edges. Peghead binding shows black line on face. Fingerboard is bound with single ivoroid.
Width at nut is 'a hair less than' 1 1/4". Scale length is 17".
These old cured tonewoods are 70-90 years old. Weber acquired these woods from a respected west coast maker of violins, violas, cellos and basses back around 2006, and have been steadily putting it to best use in building mandolins and mandolas like these, that rival the look of the old originals, and even surpass them for perfection of tone. We have seen time after time when these are directly compared to original 80 and 90 year old F-4's and H-4's, that the newer Webers often BEAT the old Gibsons, for balance, attack, single string, chord chop, depth of tone, clarity and projection...!
Highly figured aged Maple back, sides and neck, with aged Sitka Spruce top. Ebony radiused fingerboard with dot position markers and traditional double-cut extension. Ebony peghead overlay with very tasteful "Torch" inlaid in center and The Weber logo at top. Ebony heelcap. Ebony truss-rod cover. Ebony 2-pc Brekke "traditional" adjustable bridge. Weber 1-pc cast tailpiece. Nickel hardware.
This instrument has a very good voice. Balance, depth, attack, projection... all are very high on this mandolin. In fact, I can't think of a reason it shouldn't be in your home. These "custom vintage" mandolas and mandolins are made in limited supply by Weber. The cost of a new custom vintage Mandola like this one is well over $5000...

2010 Weber Custom Vintage F Oval Hole - Built with Aged Tonewoods Mandolin 'Sold'

Exc.(++) Condition. Built with 65 - 85 year old violin grade tonewoods.
The only evidence of any previous playing on the mandolin is a very light amount of fret wear.
Aged Sitka Spruce top with nice sunburst finish. Aged flamed Maple back, sides and neck also sunburst finished. Top, back and peghead are multiple bound with Ivoroid, with black line showing at top and back of body. Fretboard is single bound with Ivoroid. Radiused fingerboard with Pearl dot inlays. Fretboard has traditional double-cut extension. Elaborate pearl and abalone "Flower Pot" inlay on peghead. "Houndstooth" soundhole rosette. Inside of soundhole is also bound with Ivoroid. 2-pc. adjustable Brekke bridge. Nickel Grover tuners. Nickel cast 1-pc tailpiece.
Nice, strong sounding mandolin ready to play. These mandolins are built using 65-100 year old tonewoods, giving them a rich, lively sound and this one is no exception. This is Weber's take on an original F-4 with a few modern additions. Weber uses modern neck design on the Custom Vintage F's, so the neck is joined to the body at the 14th fret, instead of 9th fret, making for greater playability up the neck.
Even when new, you can easily hear the old cured tonewoods. Most times when we have these examples at shows or festivals, customers point out that they sound better than original vintage Gibson oval hole mandolins when compared directly.
This is a very nice bargain price, as new ones cost $5220 at the discounted selling price. Older examples have single ivoroid binding.

Weber Elite 1

New Weber Elite Mandolin 'Sold'

This mandolin and others like it is the reason we've been so excited about Weber Mandolins lately. Ok, I admit that we've always liked the whole crew there, and have had many great mandolins for almost 12 years now... But in the last 2 1/2 years we have seen another level in the craft from Weber.
Beginning in 2006 Weber began to make many instruments from old seasoned woods, as well as searching for and paying for higher grades of newer tonewoods.
They didn't advertise this. They just relied on dealers like us to let the buyers know what is going on by showing them the product. We have been doing so for awhile now, and I can attest that the mandolins are being highly complimented by the most experienced players in the business...
This Weber 'Elite' has just so many things going for it that they are hard to remember them all, but I'll try:
Red Spruce top / 1-pc Old Wood back, sides and neck / Half herringbone 'roped' purflings on top and back / Bound f-holes / Scalloped fingerboard extension / Custom 'filled' tailpiece / Custom Color / Hand-rubbed Spirit Varnish finish.
It looks great - feels great, too... But the best part is the sound. It just 'has that sound'. Most of the very few 'Elite' models that Weber has produced have tone bar bracing, but this one is x-braced.

These are very nice mandolins at a nice low price. During the past few years of recession, Weber actually re-designed several models to have MORE desirable features for LESS money.
Compared to the earlier Gallatin A's, these new ones are quite nice. They are made with figured Maple back, sides and neck, instead of Mahogany; Radiused fingerboard instead of flat; Weber logo inlaid with Pearl, instead of a decal; nice finish color, instead of just natural wood color.

Also, the Peghead has Weber logo inlaid in pearl, instead of a decal logo. And... the fingerboard is radiused and the mandolin has a nice color. All of these things have been "options" previously, but are now incorporated into this mandolin's design and offered to you at a very nice, low price.

Soundwise, this is a very, very good mandolin. Great attack, great tonal depth, beautifully sweet highs, and all with lots of power when you want it.
We'll have sound samples as soon as possible.
