Very Nice Pernambuco bow. Good frog fit, nice older silver winding in great condition. Horsehair slightly worn away just at edges. Very active bow, with fast strong resonance transfer, even with hair at low tension.

     Excellent condition. Only slight signs of use. No problems, no repairs.
     A. Olaf Anderson spent his formative years in the shop of Bela Lajtay in San Diego. The label tells the story very concisely that this violin is the "Last" violin by Bela Lajtay, finished by A.O. Anderson in 1961.
     I do not have more information on the maker, Bela Lajtay, although we know he was Hungarian and that he was a known maker in the San Diego area. He died around the late 1950's or so, and thought enough of his A.O. Anderson that he included him in his will.
     There has never been much history that I could find regarding A. Olaf Anderson. He is considered by many to be the most prominent Montana violin maker. I will attempt to give some general time line here:
      Born in Idaho in 1907, he received an engineering degree from Univ of Idaho. As a young adult, he moved to St. Ignatius, Montana in 1934. Before and/or during WWII, A.O.Anderson worked as an engineer in airplane manufactoring in San Diego, CA. Concurrently, he also took an apprentice position with Bela Lajtay, a San Diego violin maker. After the war, A. O. Anderson began to make violins on his own. We know of violins as early as 1953. Not sure when he moved back to St Ignatius, Montana... but once there, or at least as the story goes, he threw himself into violin family instruments with the same enthusiasm he put into his farm, with much success. He is known for winning awards for not only his violins, but also for his Violas and Cellos.
     Bela Lajtay died and bequeathed one "half finished" violin and his wood stores to Anderson. This is the same violin we offer for sale here.
     We've enjoyed many instruments by A.O. Anderson over the years. They are all quite nice.
     This violin sounds very, very good. Handsome red varnish, with beautiful 1-pc highly figured Maple back and sides. Ebony fittings.

     New. Made in Reghin, Romania. Excellent Maple back, sides and neck, with high grade European Spruce top. Ebony fittings. Varnish finish.
     This is quite a well-made instrument. We have enjoyed the high level of craftsmanship and tone of these Calin Wultur instruments for a few years now. The materials are very high grade, the workmanship is great, the finish is very nice and the tone is very nice.

     VG(+) condition. Original finish is worn, and over-coated with shellacque. No breaks in neck. One crunch repaired on lower bass bout side.
     American made, plywood 3/4 bass. Maple back and sides with Spruce top. Original tuners, Rosewood tailpiece, and Rosewood fingerboard.
     Pretty good definition and projection.
 

     Exc.(+) Condition. There are just a couple very minor signs that this violin has been played. Frank Daniels is a well-respected violin maker for those that know him. Several high-caliber players are currently touring using Frank Daniels violins.
     Spruce top, figured Maple 2-pc. back and figured Maple neck. Ebony fittings.

     VG+ condition. Refinished. No cracks, no repairs. Beautiful construction, with extra work in scalloping the inside points of the f-holes and the C-bout points. Handsome 1-pc highly figured Maple back. Attractive scroll and pegbox.
     Joseph Bohmann is a well known and well documented maker of instruments from Chicago area from latter 1800's into the early 1900's. He proudly proclaimed that his instruments were finest in the world and backed up his claim by winning numerous prestigious awards. He made very nice violins, but also very nice guitars, banjos and mandolins. In fact, I would say that his fancy bowl-back mandolins are among some of the best examples you can find.
     This is a very good sounding violin, with a beautiful full voice. Ebony fittings with metal fine-tuner tailpiece.

     Exc(+) condition. Very clean and original instrument. No signs of player wear. One smooth mark in finish on back.
     Solid carved Spruce top, solid carved flamed Maple back. Maple ribs. Ebony tailpiece and fingerboard and nut and tailpiece saddle. Comes set-up with upgraded geared pegs that look similar to Ebony pegs.
     Beautiful woods and beautiful finish. Set-up is good, with a good Maple bridge. Sold as an outfit, these Cellos came standard with Ebony tuning pegs, fiberglass bow and padded bag. THIS outfit was upgraded with the geared main tuners (that still look like Ebony pegs), and also upgraded with the semi-hard case. The case is a very nice upgrade to this outfit, as it protects the instrument very well and is extremely lightweight.
     The sound is very good, with even balance across the strings and lots of good tone and projection.

     Exc(+) condition. All original, with no repairs. Beautiful vibrant finish. High grade Maple back, sides and neck. Very nice German Spruce top. All original Ebony fittings in great condition. Ebony tailpiece has one fine tuner for the E-string.
     This is a very nice high-end student violin that is made very well. It is good enough for performance in a serious player's hands. Comes with earlier period hard case.

     Exc(+) condition. This is a very nice, very well-made upper student violin.
     Excellent figured Maple one-pc back. Maple ribs and neck. Select Spruce top. Ebony fittings, except for metal fine-tuner tailpiece.
     Internally, this instrument has excellent bass bar and all corner blocks. The symmetry is quite good, with neck and scroll both at top quality.
     The violin has a beautiful varnish finish in excellent condition. The instrument does show slight signs of prior use, but really only has a couple of nicks at edges... Otherwise it is in close to new condition. Has good Aubert bridge fit to instrument and has good strings and good set-up. The sound is very good and balanced with good projection.
