Original 5-string Fairbanks (Vega) Tubaphone no.3 banjos are pretty hard to find. To find one with the AC Fairbanks plate is even harder to find.
We are offering here a 1910 A.C. Fairbanks Tubaphone No. 3 with original 5-string neck. 1910 was an early year for the Tu-ba-phone model. The No. 3 appointments are pretty nice, with elaborately engraved large flowerpot pearl inlays in headstock, and engraved inlays in fingerboard and heelcap. Neck heel is carved with floral pattern.
Bracket band with shoes construction. Wood rim bound inside above and below with tortoise bindings. Currently has newer Presto tailpiece installed.
Tuners are old period Grover offset tuners. Has old geared 5th peg installed.
This banjo is in nice condition and sounds very great. There are no hidden problems.
Comes with newer plastic molded hard case.
