This 1917 Bacon Peerless 11″ tenor banjo is a sturdy piece of vintage Americana. It features a Maple neck with dyed pearwood fingerboard and an 11″ Maple rim. The Maple rim has a bead tone ring with a skirt showing below the tension hoop.  The wooden rim is a 2-ply, 9/16″ thick rim. The rim is finished black at the bottom.

The peghead is a usual Bacon shape, with the thin blackened pearwood overly showing Bacon logo inlaid in Ivoroid. The tuners are individual open back guitar style with black buttons. It appears that the original nut is on this instrument. The back of neck profile is a very comfortable “V” that has a prominent peak but nicely rounded sides for a great feel.

The pot is in VG+ condition with almost all parts original. This instrument works quite well as an open back banjo… but the resonator is very easy to attach or remove, using just one screw.

  • At this time, this instrument is awaiting some slight restoration of the fingerboard dot inlays. Three M.O.P. dots are missing and the instrument is awaiting the luthier work.
