This is a very nice banjo. Mostly original parts in the old pot. Newer expert neck by the celebrated builder, Wyatt Fawley.
Bracket and shoe construction, with 28 hooks and nuts. Newer No-Knot tailpiece. Old original Jos. Rogers head.
The great Wyatt Fawley neck is made from high grade flamed Maple and Ebony. Rounded “V” profile with dark stringer in middle of back of neck. Ebony peghead overlay with beautiful mother-of-pearl style 3 elaborate inlays. Flat Ebony fingerboard has pearl engraved inlays, as well. Ebony multiple laminate heelcap with engraved pearl star inlay. Ivoroid bindings along fingerboard. Tuners are Nickel Waverly pre-war style 2-band offset tuners with ivoroid buttons. 5th peg is 5-star with ivoroid.
This 1926 Vega Tuba-Phone is very clean and very playable. It has no problems, no repairs. And… it plays and sounds great.
