This 1928 National Tricone Style 2 square neck is in fine playing condition. It is all-original, except for newer tailpiece and National logo decal restored on peghead. Fancy pattern of roses on top of guitar, cover plate, sides, back, and back of neck.

This guitar was probably saved by being stored in a vintage car trunk, in a vintage barn in the town of Troy, Montana for many years. This guitar was enjoyed by the original owner for many hours, as evidenced by the wear pattern on the hand-rest of the cover plate. There are numerous little dings around the guitar, but no large areas of banging, and no problems that need attention. Slight grafting of binding along fingerboard at nut. Peghead is mahogany. Ebony fingerboard with large pearl dot inlays. Newer bone nut, ivoroid bound fingerboard. Body shows asymmetrical lattice grid sound-holes in upper bout, and large triangular cover plate covering the 3 separate spun cones, and T-bridge.

Sound-wise, Tricones are known for putting out a lot of ambient sound that has a lot of information, while not as concentrated and pointed as a single cone, the tricones have a reputation for having quite a lovely sound. These square-neck Hawaiian tricones have enjoyed great success in swing music and island music.

With newer hard case.
