Description

Exceptional condition  /  ~11″ pot
New calf skin head  /  All original
Removable resonator and flange platelets
SN: 97378  /  Style K

Mahogany neck and resonator. As stated above, the resonator and 13 flange platelets, can be easily removed if you want to enjoy it as an open-back.
Darkened peghead shows the Vega star engraved pearl inlay at the top. Tuners are 4-on-a-plate with cream buttons – these tuners are in very nice condition with no bent shafts or shrunken buttons. There are no metal grommets or bushings for the tuner shafts through the peghead, so the tuners get stiffer as you approach full pitch, if using medium strings.
Ebony fingerboard has pearl dot inlays. Neck extension extends 7 frets out over the hide head.

All wood, lacquer, plating and hardware are in vibrant original condition. All hardware is original.
The tone ring is a spun-over brass bead, with spun-over skirt that shows on outside of the rim, below the tension hoop.
Please remember that this instrument can be easily converted to a resonated or open-back 5-string banjo just by adding a 5-string neck.

The simple brass bead tone ring coupled with the ~11″ pot means this is a mainstream model to convert to 5-string without your friends raising their eyebrows at you.

This is a pretty nice instrument that is all intact and very original, including the tuners and the hard shell case.
