This Carson J. Robison guitar has Mahogany back, sides, and neck, and an Adirondack Red Spruce top.  These guitars were sold through Montgomery Ward and there is a tag marked “Montgomery Ward” on the inside of the soundhole. This guitar has all of the original parts besides the tuners.

The peghead is lightly shaded and it has the Carson J. Robison silk screen logo at the top. The tuners are new restoration tuners with cream buttons, but the tuning machines and the buttons still look antique. Appears to be the original nut. The original frets have some dents at the first position but not enough to cause problems. The Brazilian Rosewood radiused fingerboard has pearl dot inlays. The Bridge is also Brazilian Rosewood with a cut-through saddle, and 5 original bridge pins. Pickguard is the original fire-striped pickguard.

The Mahogany neck is a generous true vintage triangular profile. The top of the guitar is made with a 4-piece Spruce, due to the fact this guitar was made during the worst part of the depression. The soundhole is bound with white/black/white binding. The top edge of the guitar is bound with white binding and the back edge has no binding. appears to be the original end pin. There has never been a neck strap button installed.

The grain of the wood is beautiful, even with it being a 4-piece top. This is a great fingerpicking guitar that is ladder braced, but it has character and warmth making it a wonderful instrument.
