Description

SN# 60918  •  1-23/32″ width at nut (naturally worn from 1-3/4″ original)
Rounded “V” neck profile  •  Wonderful sound

Master-grade quarter-sawn Brazilian rosewood back and sides. Cuban mahogany neck. Scalloped, forward-shifted braces which is rare on 000’s and 00’s. All braces intact, never broken, never repaired. Adirondack red spruce top. Brazilian rosewood peghead overlay with original CF Martin Company logo at top. Gabon ebony fingerboard and bridge. Fingerboard has some divets from fingernail at 1st, 3rd, 5th & 6th frets. Abalone “cut-diamond” inlays for position markers. No fret dents – recent professional fret work. Original Grover G-98 pre-war open back tuners. Ivoroid binding around top edge of guitar, with wooden herringbone purfling inside. Back bound with multiple Ivoroid. Ivoroid heelcap. Multiple Ivoroid end wedge. Wooden “zipper” strip in back of guitar. Newer Gabon ebony copy bridge with original period bridge pins.

Finish is all original around guitar except the spruce top has been completely refinished. Center seam has been re-glued from bridge to binding. B string pickguard crack repaired. Maybe one other top crack repaired around pickguard area – hard to tell. One 3″ crack repaired in back by center seam. One 2″ crack repaired on side by end wedge. Neck has been professionally reset. No strap button has ever been attached to the heel. Most of the finish is worn off the playing area on the back of the neck. Back of neck has great feel to the thumb with no distractive dents or wear. The original neck profile is unchanged. Appears to be original ivory nut. Original bridge pins.

The setup on this guitar is very good, playing with medium-low action. Tone is extremely powerful, and evenly balanced. Comes with excellent newer hard case.
