VG(+) Condition. This 1966 Martin D-28 is a guitar that was owned for years by a semi-professional folk singer, so you know from that statement that it has a certain level of tone, playability, performance, etc, that is demanded by public performances.

Recent bone nut.  Recent professional fret milling.  Fingerboard shows no wear pits. No strap button ever installed.  Back has had a few polite cracks repaired, call for more details.  There is moderate wear and random dings on the top.  There are several finish checks emanating outward below the bridge that are one inch or more; these appear as cracks repaired, but are only finish checks.  There are a couple of small repaired cracks in top. No cracks in sides. Braces were professionally scalloped years ago… perhaps this careful scalloping of the braces is one reason this guitar has such a powerful attack.

Brazilian Rosewood back and sides.  Mahogany neck.  Beautiful, wide-grained spruce top – probably Engelmann Spruce, but could be Red Spruce.  Brazilian Rosewood peghead overlay with Martin decal logo at top. Bone nut. Ebony fingerboard and newer over-sized Ebony Martin bridge. Black pickguard. Rosewood bridge plate. Brazilian Rosewood peghead overlay. Original patent pending period Nickel Grover tuners. Antiqued white multiple bindings around edges of body – 6-ply on top, 3-ply around back. The binding on back of guitar was re-glued professionally. Antiqued white heel cap

This guitar has been in use, but not abused for many years, and has recently gone through very good professional setup.  This guitar ranks high with us for several things: Special Spruce top, great Brazilian Rosewood, powerful attack that is crisp, not muddy. It is set-up well, with good playability and tone. Comes with a good hard case
