This 1967 martin D-28 is about as nice as you can find. NO back or side cracks in the Brazilian Rosewood. The only crack it has is a “usual” repaired E-string pickguard crack in the Spruce top.

The Mahogany neck is in great shape with no dings on back or missing lacquer. Brazilian Rosewood peghead veneer is in great shape. Very minor touch marks here and there. Spruce top is very nice, and has polite finish checking in the thinly applied original finish. The Brazilian Rosewood back and sides are also in fine condition, with no problems, no cracks, no repairs.

Peghead veneer has CFMartin Logo decal at top. Ebony fingerboard has graduated pearl dot inlays. Top has 6-ply multiple white/blk/white bindings; back shows 3-ply white/black/white bindings. The only wear on this guitar is slight signs of wear around soundhole and it is very slight. Decorative wood marquetry strip in center of back. Antiqued white heelcap and endwedge. Original Ebony bridge with straight-thru saddle. Original white pins with red dots in bridge and endpin.

Everyone looks at 1960’s Martins… They aren’t quite old enough to be in the running with 1920’s, ’30’s, 40’s or ’50’s Martin guitar prices, but they are strong enough to warrant attention because so many of them are built well and have great tone.
This guitar exhibits all the best attributes that are sought-after in a ’60’s D-28:
Small Maple bridge plate.
Tortoise pickguard.
Hardly any wear.
Almost no cracks or repairs.
Almost no fret wear.
Nice low action.
Powerful attack with crispness.
Good balance and full tone and power.
In short, this guitar “has the stuff”.

Some shops would list a nice one like this for $8800 or more, but here is a bargain for 2019 at only $6450.
