Description

1-11/16″ width at nut  •  2-1/8″pin spacing

Exc(-) condition. Hand made by Bob Givens in his shop in Northern Idaho.
Mahogany back, sides and neck. Englemann Spruce top. Ebony fingerboard and bridge. Brazilian Rosewood peghead overlay. Diamond & snowflake inlays in fingerboard.

Check out the peghead inlay; do you see a lion’s face peering through jungle foliage?  This fascinating flora and fauna peghead inlay has it’s own story.   David Lindley, a noted L.A. guitarist, drew the design on New Years eve 1968 or 1969 while he was in Bob Givens’ Los Angeles shop.  (Bob moved to Idaho in late ’70’s).  Bob later used this same inlay pattern on several guitars and F-5 mandolins.

Top and back edges of guitar body show 4-ply antique’d cream bindings, which perfectly match the soundhole rosette. Original Nickel Grover Rotomatic tuners.

* Note about the Englemann Spruce top: Bob Givens had a “side career” of providing excellent Englemann Spruce tops to many of America’s best guitar builders. Englemann Spruce is the dominant Spruce in North Idaho, and Bob Givens knew which mountain, which elevation, what slope and what aspect, to cut his trees from. Most of his instruments are built from this great wood.

This guitar sounds great. It has same tonal “mojo” that Bob Givens built into all his instruments.  Comes with the original Hard Case.
