1978 banjo upgraded with new pot in 1993.
One of Geoff Stellings top models for many years. Walnut 2-pc neck with maple stringer down center. Walnut 2-pc bookmatched resonator with very nice figure and flame pattern on back and side walls, and raised carved wood set of “Stag Horns” in center of back.
Ivoroid multiple bindings, with Abalone purflings seen below bindings along top and back of resonator side walls and along fingerboard and heelcap. Single ivoroid binding around peghead. Staghorn abalone inlay pattern in peghead and flat fingerboard.
This banjo hardly shows any signs of wear. The banjo went to Geoff Stelling for upgrade to their new (at the time), pot with 3-ply rim instead of block pot design. The banjo has great frets, showing only the barest signs of use. Nickel hardware, with armrest showing slight arm wear clouding.
Personally I really like these Stellings with 3-ply rims. They sound great and are fun to set-up. This one looks like it was played a little bit and put into a time capsule until now. It sounds great.
