This 1981 Martin HD-28 Custom 15 is a very high quality guitar, especially when it comes to playability and tone. There is a solid Sitka Spruce top with Rosewood back and sides, and a very nice Mahogany slight “V” profile neck. The Rosewood peghead overlay has “C.F. Martin & Co.” at the top, and Nickel Martin closed-back tuners. Bone Nut. The Ebony fingerboard has diamond cut inlays in Abalone, and there are white side position dot markers on the bass side of the fingerboard. Ebony bridge with a bone saddle and white bridge pins with a black dot.

Old-Style pickguard. The Sitka Spruce top has herringbone purfling against the white binding. The Rosewood back has a “Zipper” backstrip, and there is the same white binding as seen on the face. The Mahogany neck has a fantastic feel that would never be hard to play for hours. Come with the original hard case.

The Custom-15 model started in the 1980s when dealers were frustrated that Martin wouldn’t make models close to their iconic 1930s models and began ordering custom guitars with these features.
