Description

SN#: 595  •  Exceptional condition
1 1/8″ nut width  •  Radiused F.B.

This is a virtually unmarked Givens mandolin that was owned by a friend and business associate of Bob Givens. This is really an “A4” but has the decal on the peghead like an “A3”. This mandolin is completely all original and in fabulous condition with great sound.

Lightly figured Maple back and sides. Maple neck. Engelmann Spruce top. Ebony peghead overlay and fingerboard. The 2-pc Loar-style adjustable bridge is also made from Ebony. Top and back of body are bound with single, grained ivoroid binding. Nickel Schaller tuners. 2-pc traditional tailpiece. RLG logo decal on peghead. The nut is made from vegetable ivory or Togua nut. Ebony veneer on back of peghead. Pearl dot inlays on fingerboard. Handsome Sheraton Brown finish of nitrocellulose lacquer.

Mandolins from R.L. Givens are revered because of their workmanship, high-grade materials, playability, and ultimately the great sound. Many people agree with my assessment that you are guaranteed great tone from a Givens A model. This mandolin has a fixed truss rod but no worries, as the neck is perfect after 28 years since it was built. Comes with its original hard case.
