1991 R.L. Givens A-6 Mandolin #624 – SOLD

Description

SN: 624  •  1 1/8″ Nut width  •  Exc.(+) Condition

R.L. Givens A-6 mandolins are fairly rare, with probably fewer than 200 produced in Bob Givens’ 50 year run of mandolin making. Finding a 1991 R.L. Givens A-6 mandolin in excellent condition like this one, is getting rarer. These mandolins are respected for all the right reasons: designed by one of the most prolific mandolin makers in history; made with top materials; voiced exquisitely. We feel it is hard to find an A mandolin of any maker that will beat Givens A-6’s.

Highly figured Maple back, sides and neck. Engelmann Spruce top. Ebony peghead overlay, radiused fingerboard, bridge, end pin and end wedge. Blackened back of peghead. Multiple Ivoroid bindings around headstock, fingerboard, top and back, including heel button. Gold hardware including Schaller tuners, spinners on adjustable bridge, and traditional 2-pc. tailpiece. Ebony peghead overlay has elaborate “torch” inlay, made from engraved pearl and Abalone. Radiused fingerboard has “Flourets” (snowflakes) inlaid as position markers. Black dots in binding on bass side of fingerboard.

This mandolin is quite nice, with only cursory signs of playing on the frets, a few random dings around the body, and that’s it. Comes with a fiberglass molded case.
