Traditionally built F-5, with figured Maple back, sides and neck. Spruce top. This 1996 Randy Wood F-5 has a lot of greatness. Built by one of the most respected instrument makers in Georgia and Tennessee, it shows excellent materials, craftsmanship, and excellent aging with time. Fully bound with multiple Ivoroid binding. The top of the Ebony peghead overlay has an elaborate banner engraved with R.Wood logo, with an extra flourish inlaid underneath. Nice Abalone Flowerpot inlay in center of peghead. Nickel Gotoh tuners. Beautifully designed, hand-made brass tailpiece with staggered treble and bass strings. Pearl nut. Radiused Ebony fingerboard has large Pearl dot inlays. Fingerboard has double-cut extension. Tortoise plate, full-size F-5 pickguard is multiple bound and installed with side-mount. 2-Pc. Ebony Loar-style bridge hand-made by Randy Wood with old Gibson patent date stamped on the base. Neck is a deep, rounded “V” profile. Ebony peghead veneer on back of neck. Traditional tobacco sunburst. Tapered headstock.

No fret wear. Excellent mandolin. Rich, full sound that fills up the room. Just enough of the Loar-style “hardness”, but with a woody, open sound. Comes with Calton case.
