This 1998 Collings D-2H guitar is quite a special instrument. This is a one-owner guitar, purchased directly from Bill Collings by his neighbor and personal friend. This dreadnaut guitar is a standard issue of a D-2 Herringbone with normal neck and Sitka top and Indian Rosewood back and sides. Condition-wise, this guitar is in great shape with just a few cosmetic blemishes. Very few incidental marks around the sides, none on the back. One slight area of light finish marring behind the 2nd fret on the back of the neck.

Indian Rosewood back and sides. Excellent Mahogany neck and high grade Sitka Spruce top with beautiful chatoyance and nice silky honey color from a little time going by. This guitar is now 22 years old and has matured beautifully. Brazilian peghead overlay has Collings logo inlay at top. Nickel Waverly tuners with three-lobed metal buttons. Original bone nut and saddle. Original frets have been professionally maintained and are in great shape. Top shows virtually no wear, but just has a few random small dings around with only one significant ding (see top photo). Gabon Ebony fingerboard has cut-diamond inlays, ivoroid heelcap, and diamond volute in back of peghead. Stap button professionally installed on heel. Neck is a very rounded “V” profile. Top and back of guitar have ivoroid outer binding. The top edge shows wooden herringbone purfling. The back shows black/white purflings. Wooden marquetry “zipper” inset in center of back. Ebony bridge with boxed intonated bone saddle and ebony bridge pins with pearl dots. Original tortoise plastic pickguard. Ivoroid endwedge.

I-Beam style pickup professionally installed.

Comes with original hardshell case and letter of provenance and original receipt.
