This 1999 Weber Big Sky F-style mandolin is quite a nice mandolin. The Weber Big Sky was Weber’s top of the line mandolin, having highest grade woods, finish color, inlays, bindings and hardware.

High grade figured Maple back, sides and neck. Sitka Spruce top. Ebony peghead overlay, Ebony flat fingerboard and Ebony Brekke bridge. There is hardly any sign of prior ownership. One small lacquer chip at peghead peak.
Entire mandolin is bound with ivoroid bindings – peghead has multiple ivoroid bindings, fingerboard has single ivoroid, and body has multiple ivoroid around top and back edges. Gold hardware, including gold Schaller tuners with real mother-of-pearl buttons, gold 1-pc cast Weber tailpiece and gold endpin.

Weber pearl logo at top of peghead, with intricate yet delicate Celtic knot pearl inlay in center of peghead and in Ebony truss-rod cover. Bone nut. Flat Ebony fingerboard has pearl stylized Celtic knot heart and arrow inlays.

If anyone remembers the first years of the famous “mandolin tastings” that were done at WinterGrass festival each year in the early-mid 2000’s. 60-70 mandolins of all ranks were recorded by John Reischmann and put on mandolin cafe’ for comparisons of tone. One question asked of visitors was, “which mandolin do you think is John Reischmann’s Gibson Lloyd Loar?”

No bangs, no scratches, no wear and no repairs. This Weber Big Sky mandolin is set up great and plays and sounds great. Nothing quite like a 20-yr old top tier mandolin in new condition.
Comes with original HC.
