This 2001 Prucha Premium open back banjo is in great shape. Jaroslav Prucha named it the “Premium”, because it has a fine level of appointments that harken back to old Vega sensibilities. Highly figured Maple neck and 3-ply Maple rim. The finely-made rim is finished out very attractively. Tasteful “root beer candy” lacquer, with multiple Ivoroid bindings at bottom of rim, with multiple lines seen inside and outside and at bottom of pot.
The back of neck shows excellent brown-amber gradated color, which is strikingly effective in showcasing the vivid flame figure in the Maple. This banjo has a Ptacek version tubaphone tone ring, shoe band, regular bent hooks with ball end nuts, notched tension hoop, modified Kerschner tailpiece, and double coordinator rod system.

The beautiful famed Maple neck has JPrucha logo pearl inlay at top of Ebony peghead overlay and elaborately-engraved Gryphon pearl inlay in center. The neck has an excellent 2-way active truss rod, with access and cover at bottom of peghead. Bone nut.
Ebony fingerboard has traditional engraved Vega style pearl inlays. Neck has Shubb 5th string side-mount capo. Banjo has 22 frets. Pearl inlay banner at 15th fret reads, “Premium”.
All nickel hardware. Schaller tuners, with four off-set 2-band main tuners with JPrucha logo engraved, and a right-angle Schaller 5th tuner. Tuners have matching pearloid buttons. Currently set up with Fiberskyn head.

Comes with original hard case (OHC).
