This 2005 Taylor 714-CE is in excellent condition and it sounds nice and opened up. There is a Red Cedar top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, and a Mahogany neck.
The Indian Rosewood peghead overlay has “Taylor” inlayed at the top in pearloid. Gold close-back tuners with gold buttons. Matching Indian Rosewood truss-cover with gold screws before the bone nut. The Mahogany neck is is a nice “C” profile, and it stays comfortable all the way up the neck into the cutaway. The Ebony fingerboard has small pearloid dot inlays and small side dot position markers on the bass side of the fingerboard. Gold strap button installed in the correct location on the heel. Indian Rosewood heelcap. The Ebony bridge has Ebony bridge pins with abalone dots, and there is a bone saddle.
The Red Cedar top is in good shape with some dings and scratches. The soundhole rosette is made up 4 concentric circles of black and white alternating lines, with the middle circle being multiple cleverly cut and placed strips of Koa. There is a tortoise plastic pickguard, and there are 4 black and white alternating purfling lines before the nice wood binding. Pickup volume and tone knobs on the bass side of the Indian Rosewood sides. There is a very thin two line stringer down the center of the Indian Rosewood back. Pickup access in normal place of end pin.
Overall this instrument is in really nice shape with only small amounts of player wear and stray dings. The frets have some some signs of wear in the first few positions, but nothing too significant. The back and sides are in wonderful shape with only one or two marks that are hard to find. The neck is in great shape with the only wear found at the back top edge of the peghead.
This instrument is in really nice shape and it sounds and plays great. Comes with the original hard case.
