This 2007 Eric Clapton model Martin 000-28 is a wonderful pre-owned guitar, signed by both Eric Clapton and C.F. Martin IV. It was made in the USA by Martin in Nazareth Pennsylvania. This guitar is the “real thing” for Montana. It spent its life with a bonafide rodeo cowboy troubadour and was seriously played many times in front of audiences and for family and friends, and well cared-for in the process. There are a few dings on the peghead, and small scratches here and there, but overall it is in great shape for using and playing. Here is a summary of the problems: couple of dings at the back top the peghead, some very slight marring on the face of peghead. The top has some rub marks into the finish near the binding below the bridge, and a few random dings in the top shoulders. The back shows numerous scratching but no big area of belt buckle wear. There is a small bolo tie-type wear area on the back. The neck shows almost no sign of playing on the back. The sides of the fingerboard has some air under the lacquer just by the nut, and at the side dots. Everything else is fine. We want to stress, there is no big area of wear, just a small amount of incidental dings from this guitar being used and played.

Beautiful honey-red Rosewood peghead overlay has the traditional gold Martin and Co decal on top. Original Micarta nut. Original frets have been milled once and show only barest wear at this point. Gabon Ebony fingerboard with abalone cut diamonds and Eric Clapton’s signature inlaid at last fret. Beautiful antiqu’ed very high grade Sitka Spruce top. The Indian Rosewood back and sides are likewise very high grade. The Mahogany neck has a vintage profile, rounded with a subtle prominence at the base of the smooth U. Ivoroid heel cap. Strap button installed in heel. The top edge of body is bound with antiqu’ed outer grained Ivoroid binding, with wooden herringbone purfling inside. Soundhole rosette is three concentric circles of ivoroid and black with the center circle being wooden herringbone. Old-style tortoise pickguard. Rosewood back edge is bound with antiqu’ed grained ivoroid outer binding with black/ivoroid accent line inside, seen from back. Traditional Martin wooden “Zipper” backstrip. Ivoroid endwedge. Gabon Ebony bridge with bone intonated saddle. White bridge pins with black dots. Endpin has been enlarged for a pickup jack, and inside the guitar, is a cord to plug into a Baggs soundhole pickup. This pickup element is included in the case. *If you do not want the pickup, and/or you want the endpin jack removed, please let us know and we can remove it and restore to a normal endpin.

This is a great sounding guitar, or our friend the troubadour wouldn’t have bought it in the first place. He played it for many years, proving its worth. We have known his family for 25 or 30 years and he and his six siblings mostly all played instruments, and all use great sounding instruments and can really pick ’em. This is one of many instruments bittersweetly coming on the market from arthritis.

Comes with excellent Martin TKL Vintage Series case.
