This 2009 Martin HD-28 is a guitar that we have been familiar with over the years. It was last owned by a local professional player. When he brought it in we instantly remembered why he bought it. It is just one of those that “stand out” from the crowd. We can’t stress enough that this is just a very very good example of an HD-28.
Typical to the HD-28 model, it has a Rosewood peghead overlay with Martin logo decal at the top. Nickle Grover Rotomatic tuners. Gabon Ebony fingerboard with graduated pearl dot inlays. Bone nut and Bone intonated saddle. This guitar has cream outer bindings on the top and back edge. The top has wooden herring bone purflings inside the binding. The back edge has a black accent line inside the binding. There is a white heel cap and end wedge. This guitar has white bridge pins and endpins, all with a black dot. Gabon Ebony bridge and a Tortoise celluloid pickguard.
This Martin has Indian Rosewood back and sides, with a Mahogany neck. Sitka Spruce top. The Mahogany neck has a nice “C” profile. There is a professionally installed strap button in the correct position on the heel. The back of the guitar has the wooden marquetry “Zipper” backstrip. The back of the peghead shows the Martin traditional diamond volute.
This guitar is in fabulous condition and there is not much player wear. The setup is great and there is only slight fret wear. No cracks and no repairs.
Nice flat top without bellying-up.
Comes with a good wooden hardshell case that has some fraying at the corners.
