This Gibson Retro RB-4 banjo is in great shape. Like the earliest Gibson “RB-4’s” from 1925/26, this banjo has the “Mastertone” inlay in the headstock, tucked underneath the Gibson logo, instead of in the fingerboard. It also has Hearts & Flowers inlay pattern, instead of the later Flying Eagle pattern, which was used after about 1930.
Walnut resonator with concentric circles inlaid. Beautiful figured grain Walnut neck with Rosewood fingerboard. Hearts and Flowers inlays in fingerboard and peghead overlay.
Fingerboard and resonator have antique white/black/white bindings, and an antiqued heel cap. Nickel Waverly offset pre-war style tuners with Schaller 5th, all with matching ivoroid buttons. All hardware is Chrome plated for authenticity.
The only signs of prior playing are some slight signs of strings touching frets, the head having some scratching, and some slight lacquer dings on resonator sidewall.
Comes with original case in nice condition.
