Here’s the thing with MT-2 mandolins… I’ve sometimes tried to describe how elegantly perfect they are by saying, “you could cut a piece off a Collings MT-2 from anywhere on it and it would deserve a place on a shelf in a museum”.

Traditionally built, with beautiful “Bird’s-Eye” figured Maple 2-pc back and sides. The neck has its own scattered bird’s-eye figure, but also some strong flame figure. Excellent Italian Spruce top. Fairly slim rounded “V” neck profile.

Fully multiple bound, with outer grained ivoroid bindings showing black accent lines. Ebony peghead veneer has Collings logo inlaid at top and a flourish of inlay in center. Ebony truss-rod cover near nut. Bone nut. Radiused Ebony fingerboard with graduated pearl dot inlay. Medium red-amber sunburst on body and neck. Ebony traditional Loar-style adjustable bridge.

One-piece Collings nickel tailpiece and Gotoh nickel tuners with ivoroid buttons. Strap button professionally installed in neck heel. Ebony endpin.

Fresh out of set-up and ready to come to your house. Frets look perfect. No problems with mandolin. Slight signs of previous ownership here and there, but nothing dramatic. It sounds very good – open and expressive.

$3000 with Original Hard Case in exc condition. A new one would cost well over $4000…
