Exc+ condition.  What a great time capsule! This 2014 Prucha Spirit Custom with 24 fret neck is in great original shape. And… its loaded with great appointments.
Highly figured Maple neck and resonator accented by beautiful honey-amber color. Neck shows great fiddleback figure, as does the resonator. Back of resonator is one-pc highly figured Maple veneer.
Ebony peghead veneer has JPrucha script logo abalone inlay at top, elaborate abalone flourish in center and “Spirit” truss-rod cover near nut. Bone nut. Radiused Ebony fingerboard with intricate abalone “Spirit” inlays.  These delicate floral tendrils of inlay are exquisite, and several inlay positions (5th fret inlay, 7th, 10th, 17th and 22nd fret), show tendrils “escaping” main fret they are centered on and flowing into fret above or below, or both. The Ebony fingerboard has 24 frets to play on, with the last two frets vaulted out over the edge of the banjo head.

Binding is Tortoise celluloid and is “backlit” with white/black multiple strip. This white/black accent line is seen from face of fingerboard.  This same binding is seen around top and back edges of resonator.  Subtle wooden marquetry strip purfling along side of neck under the tortoise binding strip. *Check out the photos – the binding and purfling is quite nice.

The hardware is a thoughtful mix of Gold and Black Nickel parts, coupled with fine detail deep gouge hand engraving.  The armrest is engraved on the face as well as the mountig side; the tension hoop is engraved on top edge as well as the side; the flange is engraved; the side of tone ring engraved; tailpiece has engraved Gold lid with non-engraved Black Nickel base. Main tuners are H&K Gold, with Gold Schaller 5th peg – all with amber buttons.

This is a fine sounding banjo. Made with all the right parts and assembled by true masters of banjo construction, Jaroslav Prucha and his son, John. Comes with Travelite case… or, for $900 you can trade up to a Calton flight case.
