WHAT???
Yes, the venerable D-18 “Golden Era” model has been discontinued by Martin… at least for the foreseeable future.
What a great moderately-priced powerhouse guitar. This 2016 Martin D-18 GE (Golden Era) represents a modern Martin model that has already earned a place in Martin’s history, with its 25 years of power and tone.
Built with a tilt toward the mid-1930’s Martin D-18’s that have the canon-like percussive attack and huge voice. Wide nut and generous neck profile compliment the advanced scalloped bracing and Adirondack Red Spruce top.

Mahogany back, sides and neck; Adirondack Red Spruce top. Rosewood peghead veneer has old style CFMartin & Co decal logo at top, and also stamped into back of peghead. Montana-made nickel Waverly pre-war style open-back tuners.
Appears to have fossilized ivory nut. Gabon Ebony fingerboard with graduated abalone dot inlays. The Red Spruce top shows very wide grain with beautiful medullary rays (side rays). Tortoise pattern pickguard. Black body bindings. Top edge shows 4-ply purflings inside binding. Ebony heel cap. Tortoise end wedge. Gabon Ebony bridge has intonated bone “cut-thru” saddle. Ebony bridge pins and endpin.

This guitar is designed and built to be a “hot” guitar. Like the mid-’30’s Martin D-18’s, this 2016 Martin D-18 GE has advanced, scalloped bracing and small Maple bridge plate for quick and powerful attack with lots of oomph behind it. The high grade Mahogany and the Red Spruce top just complete the package.

Small wear below pickguard from little fingernail, and small area of rub marks on back. Frets barely show any wear.
Remember – these D-18 GE’s are no longer made by Martin… so, what are you waiting for? Get this one!
