This is a very rare Stelling Banjo. A few years ago a couple of Stelling Banjo customers talked Geoff Stelling into making a short run of a custom banjos that he had never made previously – one with Flying Eagle inlay pattern. Geoff told me he considered that the run of 7 or 8 banjos to be his official 46th anniversary banjo.
This 2019 un-played Stelling Custom Flying Eagle banjo is made from beautifully figured Curly Maple. It has a stylized double-cut peghead with Flying Eagle pearl inlays in the Ebony peghead overlay, along with the Pearl Stelling logo at top and solid Pearl Truss Rod access just above the nut. Schaller 2-band tuners and 5th peg, all with amber buttons. Bone nut. Flat Ebony fingerboard with Flying eagle pearl inlays and 21st fret inlay block that reads, “Flying Eagle”. Beautiful brown Amber sunburst finish.
Original Tony Pass Maple block pot rim. Multiple ivoroid bindings around the fingerboard, top and back of resonator, and heel cap.
This is an unplayed banjo that has never been to a gig, never gone to a jam, never passed around a music room! It’s never been on a stand at an instrument show, etc. This banjo is in the best condition possible. It has been held long enough for me to adjust the truss-rod, adjust head tension and make sure the bridge is intonated.
The original TKL AVS hard case is so nice and appears brand new as well. These cases are becoming scarce on high end banjos because of their price. This one comes with the banjo and is one of the finest cases made in America.
