This guitar could be considered as “NOS” (new old stock).  This is one of the earliest issues of the aged tone guitars from Dana Bourgeois.  This Aged Tone (AT) guitar  has torrefied (oven baked) Adirondack Red Spruce top and beautifully figured Mahogany back and sides.  Hide glue construction.  Thin finish with slight aging toner.  Hand voiced to perfection.  This guitar never was really played and enjoyed… but you wouldn’t know it to hear it.  It exhibits all the characteristics of an older guitar that is more “broken-in”.  This is what the torrefication does – it ages the wood thru specific values of heat for measured periods of time, per species, to deeply dry the wood and “cure it” so that moisture is kept out.  In short it is a great way to “age” woods.

Peghead has Ziricote wood veneer with Bourgeois pearl logo inlay at top.  Mammoth nut.  Ziricote fingerboard with ivoroid dot inlays.  Rectangular Ziricote bridge with boxed intonated Mammoth saddle and bone pins.  Ivoroid endpin.  Nickel Waverly open-back tuners with ivoroid buttons.  Diamond volute in back of headstock.  Ivoroid heelcap.  Figured Mahogany endwedge.  Firestripe pickguard.

This is a tremendous guitar… and in new original condition.  As I’ve stated above this guitar has really barely ever been played.  No fret wear, no dings.  And the playability and sound are at their best!  Huge sound when you want it and great tonal information even when fingerpicked or lightly strummed.
