This fine Brentrup F-4C from Hans Brentrup has all the look and feel of the classic Gibson F-4s. The entire mandolin is single bound with Ivoroid binding. Ebony peghead veneer has JBrentrup logo at top with elaborate “Torch” inlay in middle of peghead. Truss rod cover near Pearl nut. Radiused Ebony fingerboard has large Pearl dot inlays, and a double-cut extension over the soundhole. Tortoise plate pickguard with old patent mark from 1909. Ebony 2-pc. adjustable Loar-style bridge. Silver James tailpiece with JBrentrup engraved. Elaborate soundhole rosette is Ivoroid with wooden Houndstooth borders. Inside of soundhole is bound with Ivoroid. Cherry-red sunburst, very close to original Gibson F-4 color. Highly figured 2-Pc. Maple back, Maple sides. 2-Pc. Mahogany neck with Ebony stringer down center, and Ebony overlay on back of peghead. Silver Gotoh tuners with Ivoroid buttons. Ebony end pin.

There are some touch marks here and there, and some polite lines of finish checking.

Very nice, open tone.
