Description

Exc condition.
Serial number: 9260-22.
This is a real jewel of a banjo. What we have noticed is it’s great to have an old Gibson tenor with a new neck by a noted maker, but it’s much better to have a 1930’s 5-string neck that has aged a similar number of years as the pot itself.
The neck: This neck started out being a Gibson Kalamazoo brand 5-string neck: mahogany with dot inlay and Kalamazoo peghead design. The peghead was reshaped into a Gibson “Fiddle Cut” shape. Pearl Gibson logo and Hearts and Flowers pattern was inlaid into peghead overlay. Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard had the original dots removed and filled with rosewood, then pearl Hearts and Flowers pattern was inlaid in fingerboard with Mastertone block at 21st fret. Side of fingerboard and heelcap have antiqu’ed multiple bindings similar to a 1920’s mahogany Style 4 banjo. Main tuners are two Keith D-Tuners at 2nd and 3rd and original Grover Patent Pancake tuners at 1st and 4th. Schaller 5th.
