One-piece Mahogany back. Mahogany sides and neck. Beautiful Adirondack Red Spruce top with lovely grain showing through the tasteful sunburst finish. The finish is hardy, with polite checking, but none of the “dry lake bed” finish crackle you can see on some other guitars from this time. Peghead has “balloon” logo gold decal with famous Banner decal in center of peghead. This banner is famous for reading, “Only a Gibson is good enough”. Original personalized truss rod cover that reads “H. Campbell”. Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays. Soundhole has seven-ply cream and black rosette. Top and back edge have antiqu’ed cream bindings. Rosewood straight bridge with pearl dots and cut-through intonated bone saddle. Bone bridge pins. Braces are advanced toward soundhole. Appears to be EVO frets, of course with no wear on them! Tortoise pickguard. Strap button installed in neck heel. K&K pickup installed with endpin jack.

First position wear on the neck from first finger and thumb at first fret. Back of the neck may have been oversprayed. There is further evidence of overspray all around the guitar. Call for more detailed description of these areas.

Top is in great shape. The top is an Adirondack Red Spruce top that isn’t a perfect bookmatch. This is fairly common for Gibson in the war era. Sides sustained some heavy damage with one long crack at the butt of the guitar through the endpin area and another large crack on the side. Five back cracks repaired. Three are only a few inches each. One is about six inches long and the other is about nine or ten inches long. All are repaired well.

This guitar does have that correct sound for its pedigree.

Please call for accurate in-hand description of these repairs. (406) 327/9925

Comes with good hard shell case.
