Mahogany neck with Maple pot. This c. 1977 Iida 5-string open-back was ahead of its time as a Clawgrass-style banjo. Nicely constructed with excellent tasteful options. Mahogany neck has double-cut peghead with Iida logo inlaid at top and Flying Eagle pearl inlay. Pearloid truss rod cover near nut. Bone nut. Flat Ebony fingerboard with pearl Flying Eagle inlay pattern. Chrome tuners with matching pearloid buttons. Pot is dressed at top edge, bottom inside edge, and bottom outside edge, with cream binding showing multiple lines at the bottom of the pot. Cream multiple heelcap on neck heel. Single cream binding along sides of fingerboard. Pot has shoe-band construction and a full flathead tone ring. Double-bracket armrest. Four-hump tailpiece. Two co-ordinator rod system. 24 hooks and nuts.

This banjo is in amazing structural condition and shows a little cosmetic wear. The head shows a little dirt from playing, and the frets are just starting to show wear.

Comes with original hard case. This is a one-owner instrument, well-cared for. It was purchased because it sounded better than the Gibsons of the same period that were in the store at the time. This is a great banjo, ready to play on stage or in the ole log cabin.
