1988 R.L. Givens A-3 Mandolin – Sold

A-style mandolin built by the great R.L. Givens.

Description

Exc. Condition. SN: 440. Width at nut: 1 1/16″.
Engelmann Spruce top with Maple back and sides and ivoroid bound body. Nice Sheraton brown color. Radiused Ebony fretboard with pearl dot inlays. RLG logo decal in ebony headstock overlay. Bone nut. Nickel Schaller tuners with simulated pearl buttons. Small frets (original). Original R.L. Givens handmade Ebony adjustable bridge. Universal Weber cast tailpiece. Strap button professionally installed on heel in correct position. Comes with handmade flamed maple pickguard, possibly made by R.L. Givens.
There is moderate player wear on the frets. There is also some minor marking on the back and neck, but nothing of great significance. Small areas of fingernail wear were touched up under the pickguard.
Great sound, great playability and a fantastic chop.
Comes with a period R.L. Givens F-5 case.
