Exc condition. First example of 1-A mandolin from the maker.
Serial number: 049. Width at nut: 1 1/16″.

Handsome chocolate brown finish. Appears to be varnish finish. Highly figured Maple back, sides, and neck. Top appears to be Carpathian Spruce. Back of neck profile is rounded V. Two-piece Maple neck with Rosewood stringer. Ebony veneer on back and face of peghead. Dudenbostel inlaid in pearl at top. Compound radiused Gabon Ebony fingerboard has dot inlays. Ebony truss rod cover. Ebony traditional two-piece adjustable Loar-style bridge. Silver Waverly tuners with Ebony buttons and silver James tailpiece with Dudenbostel engraved in hinged lid. Top edge of mandolin has single tortoise celluloid binding. Nut appears to be fossilized ivory. Elaborate Ebony strap buttons installed in endpin and neck heel (see photo).

This mandolin has no problems. Only incidental marks here or there and very light evidence of playing on the frets. Recent setup and adjustment by Greg Boyd. The sound is excellent and open and full.
