Wow! I’m starting to believe every instrument that Paul Beard makes has great tone. This new Beard Vintage R squareneck is no exception. Great crisp power and projection, with big, big bottom G string. Traditionally made with Birch ply construction and open sound well. Traditional fan coverplate and traditional soundhole rings with screens. Solid Mahogany neck and Ebony fingerboard with pearl dot inlays. Pearl Beard logo inlaid at top of peghead. Traditional tobacco sunburst finish.
Bone nut. Beard “triple-spun” aluminum alloy cone with #14 aluminum cast Spider bridge with Maple/Ebony saddle inserts.
Don’t be scared off by the Birch Ply body… Many, many of Beard’s best models utilize this Birch Ply construction. The Belle Beard line, the Mike Auldridge line, etc. Birch Ply was the main wood used for bodies at Dobro in 1920’s til present time. The smooth clean surface of Birch causes the notes to be very quick on the attack and fast to get out of the soundholes. Whenever we are at a BlueGrass festival with Beard instruments on display the best players always remark on how good the sound is n the Vintage R guitars.
