Description

New. Made in Helena, Montana.
Serial number MB-002.
Redwood top harvested by the builder, showing nice character of color and grain. Mr. Sheehy also harvested the madrona which makes up the back and sides, carefully bound with maple. Matching madrona F-style strap hook and madrona peghead veneer with a cool corian Longhorn inlay. Jatoba fingerboard, adjustable bridge, and tailpiece cover. Corian inlays in bass side of fingerboard are visible from front and side as position markers. Bone nut. Maple pickguard is attached to the fingerboard extension and suspended above the top by carefully crafted piece of carbon fiber. Maple inlay around inside of oval hole. Maple heelcap. Gold Schaller tuners with pearloid buttons tastefully blend. Tailpiece is an innovative original design, highly functional and very stylish (see photos). Finish has a few slight imperfections, but they are barely noticeable.
Once again Montana builder Tom Sheehy has knocked it out of the park with this beautiful and rich mandola. With a sound as robust and resonant as the last one, this instrument also brings bolder aesthetic styling. We can’t wait to see what he builds next as he continues to refine his craftsmanship and innovative building style. Very rewarding to play.
