Indian rosewood back and sides. Select German spruce top. These new Collings D-2HG VN guitars are one of our perennial favorites. We’ve been ordering these regularly for almost 20 years with Collings. We ask for many of these Indian rosewood guitars to be built with German spruce tops because of how great the sound is. Bill Collings told us years ago, it was not only his favorite combination with Indian rosewood, but told many of the employees at Collings wood choose this combination on their own guitars because of the sound. Straight-grained mahogany neck. Rosewood peghead veneer has Collings logo inlaid at top. Elegant bone nut. Gabon ebony fingerboard with “cut-diamond” inlays. Body has ivoroid outer bindings at top and back edge and ivoroid heel cap and end wedge. Top edge shows wooden herringbone purflings inside binding layer. Back has B/W line inside binding layer and wooden marquetry “zipper” inlaid as back strip. Vintage feeling neck with traditional diamond volute. nickel Waverly tuners. Tortoise pickguard. Gabon ebony bridge, with intonated bone saddle. Ebony bridge pins and end pin.
Collings perfection and setup is apparent in this guitar, plays beautifully and at the time of this writing, this guitar has not been in the store for 40 hours, and already sounds very wide open with a huge, commanding voice. Comes with excellent TKL AVS grade case.
