Always one of our favorite Collings models for old vintage guitar tone, our new Collings D-2HG again makes us proud to be a Collings Dealer.  The combination of Indian Rosewood and German Spruce is the perfect blend of a fast “opening up” sound with growl.  Lots of power and perfection, but also sounds great with just a light strum with pick or bare finger.  This “growl” I am referring to is similar to an old vintage D-28 growl.  We order and sell several of these per year.  In fact, we stock fewer D-2HA (w/ Adirondack Spruce top), in favor of these German topped D-2HG versions.  These seem to be just as powerful but not as “glassy” as the D-2HA, and the D-2HG seems instantly warmer while still having a commanding presence.

Indian Rosewood back and sides, German Spruce top and Mahogany neck.  Collings pearl logo inlaid at top of peghead overlay.  Bone nut.  Ebony fingerboard with small diamond inlays. The German top has distinctive wide grain pattern. Ebony bridge with boxed saddle slot.  Intonated bone saddle.  Ivoroid outer bindings on top and back of body, with accent lines. Top edge has wooden herringbone purflings.  “Zipper” back strip.  Ivoroid end wedge.  Ebony bridge pins and endpin.

This is just such a good guitar… I don’t know what else to say… It has snap and punch with sustained power after the initial attack of the note, great balance. But best, perhaps, is that gritty growl that sounds more like a 1930’s guitar than a new one.

Oh – comes with Collings’ TKL AVS hard case.
