New  •  Serial number 1813495.
21.4″ Scale. 1 3/8″ width at nut.

This new Pono tenor guitar / baritone uke is a model UL4-10, but seems to be nicer than most of the 10’s we see. Beautiful medium-tone solid Acacia body. Solid mahogany neck. Slotted peghead. Nickel Grover pre-war style open-back tuners. Pono logo at top of rosewood peghead overlay. Appears to be Macassar ebony radiused fingerboard with small dot inlays. Macassar ebony bridge with “boxed” bone saddle. Bone nut. Ebony bridge pins and heelcap. Outer bindings on top and back of body appear to be Luan. The top has multiple wood strip purflings inside the layer of binding. Wooden marquetry soundhole rosette. Fingerboard is bound with ebony.

This guitar has a lot of sound, and a lot of versatility. This is designed to be an excellent tenor guitar, or to be used as a steel string baritone ukulele. Or for other variations such as plectrum/tenor banjo tuning etc. Designed by Kilin Reece, the head luthier of Pono’s parent company, Ko’olau. So, it is designed in Hawaii, and made in Indonesia from all solid woods. The tonal performance and playability are great.
