This new Ray Jacobs Gourd Octave mandolin sounds great – just as great as the last one did!
Built by an eclectic local folk musician and long-time teacher, Ray Jacobs. Ray began making “Rocky Mountain Dulcimers” to teach kids in his classes about woodworking and tools.
Many people know him by his famous “Pampers Box Guitar” that he built with wood body, wood braces, and a cardboard top! That “Pampers Box” guitar had quite good sound and made the rounds or years, demonstrating Ray Jacob’s prowess in engineering good tone.

Beautifully decorated Spruce top that has four small soundholes around top edge. The top is decorated with Grizzly Bear paw prints inside the top edge and a Grizzly Bear and Maiden dancing in the center. Maple neck and Maple back. The Gourd makes the sides. Plain flat fingerboard with no inlays, but it has side dots for position markers.
Slotted headstock.

This fine Octave Mandolin does not come with a case… but we’ll be able to match it up with a gig bag for you.
