Description

New.  SN# 23.  One-piece top.
1 1/8″ width at nut.  Tone Bar bracing.

A great F mandolin from Matt Ruhland, an emerging builder in the great northwest.
Quilt-figured Western Bigleaf Maple back, sides and neck. Old growth Alaskan Spruce… * This Alaskan Spruce has the characteristics of hardness and stiffness not associated with purebred Sitka Spruce. It more closely resembles the Spruce hybrids found along the western Canadian and Alaskan coasts. The naturally occurring hybrids can be blends of Sitka/White Spruce, or Sitka/Englemann Spruce, or even all three species. These hybrids are usually referred to as “Lutz” Spruce, and is a prized lutherie wood for its structural and vibratory properties.

Nicely appointed, with multiple Ivoroid bindings around top and back of body, and along fingerboard. Peghead has single binding. Neck has Ebony veneers in the face and back of peghead and Ebony stringer along center line of two-pc neck. Peghead shows Matt Ruhland’s “R” logo at top. Fingerboard is radiused, with pearl dot position markers. End of fingerboard has slight double-cut extension.

Nice traditional sunburst that doesn’t obscure any wood grain. Loar-style adjustable 2-pc bridge. 2-pc tailpiece. Grover tuners. Ebony endpin.

This is a very good sounding mandolin that plays easy. There is nothing about the feel that is not a normal feel.
Set-up and ready to go. Comes with basic hard case.
