Description

A Nugget F mandolin is a good thing to behold.

Exc(-) condition.  SN# 059.
1 1/8″ width at nut.  Sunburst.

Stunning instrument. Amazing sound.
Beautifully figured Maple back, sides and neck, with nice Spruce top.
Two-piece Maple neck with Ebony stringer along center line in back.
Multiple bound body and neck. Ebony Headstock veneer has elaborate double flowerpot design that fills the peghead with artistic elegance. Pearl nut.
Ebony flat fingerboard has pearl dot inlays. Double-cut fingerboard extension, with long part of extension scalloped away. Ebony Loar-style adjustable bridge.
Gold hardware, including Gold Gotoh tuners with solid pearl buttons and two-piece mildly engraved tailpiece.

This Nugget F mandolin is really great. The phrase “the older, the better” comes to mind… This is a tone producer. The chop is perfect with barest of touches, filling the room with its presence. Single string has joy in the elegance of lyrical overtones. Mid-range is powerful.

There is an area of finish wear on the top, right where a pickguard would cover it, and finish is naturally worn on back of neck. Peghead has some nicks from string changing.
Don’t let this throw you off, as the mandolin plays and sounds like a true champion.
Remember – these cost $27,000 new, and have a long waiting list. Why not get this one and save $7000 while enjoying the sound of 27 years of maturing and opening up?
