Description

New. All solid wood.
This is a very well-built dreadnaut guitar from Pono. Mahogany back, sides and neck with excellent Englemann Spruce top. Ebony fingerboard. Rosewood bridge, peghead overlay and heelcap. Rosewood bindings around top and back edges of body and along fingerboard. Nickel Grover pre-war style open-back tuners. Small pearl dot inlay in fingerboard.

We have become familiar with Pono instruments over the last few years from our long association with Pono’s R&D luthier, Kilin Reece. We’ve come to respect their healthy blend of product innovation with tried and true construction methods.

The beautiful honey colored Mahogany in this guitar is Swietenia macrophylla, commonly known as ‘Honduran Mahogany’… But the color of this un-dyed Mahogany is sometimes described as ‘Amazon Mahogany’. We are familiar with Amazon mahogany being used in upper quality handmade guitars (Roy Noble, and others), since the 1980’s. It has great tone, and another benefit is in how the wood ages over time when exposed to light. Vibrant browns, golden browns, reds and yellows all begin to show themselves as time goes by. After several years the colors in the wood are a work of art in itself.

This guitar rivals or surpasses many guitars that sell for over $2000…!
Well built out of nice woods, with great playability dialed-in. The tone is quick and full, with good balance across the spectrum.

Comes with Original Hard Case.
