Description

SN# H265.
Exc. Condition. Nice reissue of a Vega Tubaphone #2.
Highly figured maple neck, and wood rim. Rim is capped at the bottom, and bound at the top, inside edge. Traditional Tubaphone tonering. Shoe construction, with shoes mounted to bracket band. Ebony peghead overlay has Vega logo in “Floral” inlay pattern. Ebony flat fingerboard has mostly pearl dot inlays, but star at 5th fret, and “moustache” at first fret. Ebony heelcap. Fingerboard has Ivoroid/black binding. Nickel hardware. 24 hooks & nuts. Traditional Vega-style armrest attached. Deering adjustable tailpiece.
This is a very attractive banjo, the amber coloring of the maple works really well with the ebony highlights, and the nickel hardware. Planetary tuners with matching pearloid buttons. Neck is attached to rim with two co-ordinator rods instead of single dowel stick. Frets show slight wear, but nothing to affect playability or sound. Comes with original hard case.
