Very similar to an OM sized guitar, this Roy Noble Pau Ferro Concert Custom guitar is Roy’s answer to a Grand Auditorium guitar, or maybe more like an OM. Roy uses his own scale length of 25 1/4″ which makes for a wonderful feel. Falling in the middle of common long-scale and short-scale instruments, Noble’s scale length makes the playability perfect whether using light or medium gauge strings.

The top is a rare example of beautifully flamed Sitka Spruce. Bruce Harvie, of Orcas Island Tonewoods, has reminded me that this Spruce was available in the 90’s mostly from one large Sitka Spruce tree. Pau Ferro back and sides. For us, Pau Ferro has always exhibited a very similar tonal response to Brazilian Rosewood, even though it is technically an “Ironwood”. The Amazon Mahogany neck has very interesting grain.

Coco Bolo peg head overlay with Maple and pearl truss rod cover near bottom. Bone Nut. Ebony fingerboard with pearl “Cut-Diamond” inlays. Coco Bolo bridge with boxed bone saddle. Ebony bridge pins and end pin. Headstock bound with ivoroid and showing ivoroid slant inset. Ivoroid bound fingerboard. Body bound with Maple outer bindings showing multiple wood purflings along sides and back. Top edge shows Roy Noble’s signature spiral wood purflings inside binding edge. The back of the guitar shows multiple wood purfling line inside the outer layer of binding. Thin Maple back strip in center of back. Pau Ferro heel cap and end wedge.  Gold Waverly tuners.

This guitar is in great condition with some light signs of playing. Recent professional fret milling, so the frets are in great shape. The tone of this guitar is extremely high grade. Noble’s record well and are known as such pure tone emitters that the sound travels farther than you would think it could. These have a huge history of being used by studio players on important recordings. Perhaps the most famous musician known for using Noble guitars was Clarence White, who owned and employed four of them and extensively recorded with them after 1966.

Comes with very nice original hard case.
