Roundneck / Spun Cone
This pre-owned Regal RD-40 Roundneck Resonator guitar is pretty nice. It has beautiful inlays, great sunburst and it’s in great shape.
The sound is very good, with a defined bite and good sustain. Hardly any sign of being previously owned. I can find one very small ding on the top, out by the edge binding on lower bout.
Mahogany (or Sapelle), back, sides and neck, with Spruce top. Rosewood peghead overlay and fingerboard. Cherry sunburst. Nickel hardware, with traditional Fan coverplate and traditional Regal style tailpiece. Two sound port holes with screen inserts. Tuners are possibly “Ping” closed back with metal buttons.
Fully bound, with cream bindings around peghead and fingerboard and top and back of body and heel cap. Peghead overlay has elaborate Flowerpot abalone and pearl inlay in center, with truss rod access below. Frets show no wear! Pearl dot inlays in fingerboard.
This example has much nicer appointments than many RD-40’s, such as: Headstock and fingerboard are bound, neck is bound, peghead has very elaborate large flowerpot inlay, beautiful sunburst finish.
This guitar plays easy and sounds great… and, it comes with a Hard Case.
